01 Nutrition enhancer regulations

Recently, the National Health Commission and the State Administration of Market Regulation jointly issued Announcement No. 7 of 2020, issuing 42 new national food safety standards, including 10 food nutrition enhancer quality specification standards such as "Food Safety National Standard Food Nutrition Enhancer Inositol (Cyclohexhexanol)" (GB 1903.42-2020).

"Food Safety National Standard Food Nutrition Enhancer Inositol (Cyclohexaxaol)" (GB 1903.42-2020) and other 10 food nutrition enhancer quality specification standards, respectively, the scope of food additives, sensory requirements, physical and chemical indicators, and the corresponding test methods have been specified and introduced in detail. Among them, inositol is suitable for food nutrient fortification agent inositol generated by hydrolysis of plant calcium magnesium (phytin).

The main purpose of the use standards of nutritional enhancers is to strengthen nutrition, balance diets, and diversify diets, make up for the nutritional losses caused by food storage, and cover a large range of people. As a mandatory national basic standard, regulate and scientifically guide food fortification behavior to avoid the resulting nutritional imbalance or excessive nutritional elements.

03 Related food safety cases

Food additives are often used in modern food processing, but the amount of its addition to the country has clear regulations, the so-called too much, even the best things should be set in a good amount, there have been too many domestic food safety problems caused by excessive use of food additives.

According to the official website of the Zhejiang Entry-Exit Quarantine Bureau, on February 6, 2018, the inspection and quarantine personnel of the Lishui Bureau destroyed a batch of Doleku beverages imported from Spain for the first time, and the reason was that the batch of beverages was found to have added riboflavin, inositol and caffeine in violation of the inspection, according to relevant regulations, such food additives are not allowed to be added to carbonated beverages, and the Lishui Bureau effectively prevented the batch of unqualified goods from flowing into the consumer market.
