Some people will ask: Mayor Chen Yi has only been the first mayor of Shanghai for two years, and he has been dead for 43 years, but why do the people of Shanghai still miss him so much when mayor Chen Yi's name is mentioned?

The answer is very simple: because he led the People's Liberation Army to liberate Shanghai and sent the first rays of dawn to Shanghai; because he united the working class, the industrial and commercial circles, the intellectual circles, and other people from all walks of life to tide over the difficulties together, won a financial and economic war without the smoke of gunfire, and quickly resumed production; because he and the people shared weal and woe, quickly healed the great disaster caused by the "February 6 bombing", and bid farewell to yesterday's wounds and pains; because he established the first workers' new village in Shanghai, and the workers' brothers lived in new houses.

Written by Wang Tianyun, Jiang Dongmin and directed by Hu Xuehua, this Shanghai opera masterpiece uses an unprecedented "big scene" to pick up the waves and flowers in the terrifying waves of history, recount the red legend of Shanghai, a heroic city, and use the rhyme with Shanghai flavor to make the image of "Mayor Chen Yi", a Confucian general with perseverance and humor and wisdom and courage, shine on the Stage of Shanghai Opera. Before the rehearsal, some people had worried about whether Chen Yi's Shanghainese speech would be accepted by the audience, and now judging from the theater effect of the 5 performances, this worry is superfluous.

"Chen Yi in Shanghai" wrote about the People's Liberation Army sleeping on the road, followed by the cry of a baby. Commander Chen Yi said with emotion: "The newborn baby cries and wakes up the sleeping Shanghai." The night has passed and dawn has broken, and this new life is entrusted with infinite beauty! Chen Yi's wife, Zhang Qian, said: "This child is our newborn in Shanghai' liberation!" "It's a poetic detail, and it's a detail with deep meaning. The cry of the newborn baby symbolizes the birth of the new Shanghai, and also symbolizes the beginning of a new era in Shanghai.

"Chen Yi in Shanghai" is starred by the famous Shanghai opera performance artist Sun Xuchun. Sun Xuchun has been away from the Shanghai opera stage for many years, and this time he returned to the stage to play Mayor Chen Yi, living up to expectations, having both form and spirit, singing and doing well, entering the body, heart and feelings. The Shanghainese singing did not detract from the heroic spirit of Mayor Chen Yi's revolutionary, and the occasional few Words of Sichuanese were more beautiful.

At the opening, Mayor Chen Yi stood on the jeep and sang: "A million male teachers cross the river, the heroes are strong, the morale is high, the military trumpet is loud, and the red flag of the East China battlefield is raised." The pioneering sound and the majestic atmosphere show that Mayor Chen Yi has full confidence to transform a "black dyeing tank" into a red new Shanghai and a world-famous Oriental Pearl. These few sentences have a strong sense of singing, and also show Sun Xuchun's artistic skills.

Mao Shanyu, the director of Shanghai Shanghai Theater, is willing to be a green leaf this time, playing Chen Yi's wife Zhang Qian. The most touching scene in the play is Chen Yi's husband and wife singing. At that time, Shanghai was in ruins, Chen Yi could only sleep for two hours a day, had a high fever, and received threatening bullets from secret agents. Zhang Qian asked Chen Yi to increase the number of guards, but Chen Yi reduced the number of guards from 16 to 12, and 12 to 6! He comforted his wife and said that there were loyal cadres and masses at the grassroots level to defend me. Zhang Qian sang: "You are the nail in the eye of the enemy, they recruit viciousness to kill you; you are the mayor, you are the main backbone of the people, you cannot afford to lose half a cent, you are my beloved Zhang Qian, you know, this invisible sword and light sword shadow is always tugging at my heart!" ”

The composition and vocal design are indispensable. Although Mao Shanyu is a "green leaf", these few songs have also made the audience who loves her addicted. In terms of singing, Mao Shanyu incorporates the qingli and delicacy of Xiao Aiqin, and incorporates the tunes of Jiangnan opera genres such as Yue opera, pingtan, and tin opera, and also integrates the sound of modern popular songs and the lyricism and techniques of Chinese national singing into the vocal cavity of Shanghai opera, with rich and gentle melodies.

It is worth mentioning that "Chen Yi in Shanghai" concentrates the elites of six generations of Shanghai opera old and young people. There are many supporting roles in the play, and the supporting roles are famous. Xu Botao, Wang Shanmei, Wang Mingda, Wang Mingdao, long farewell reunion, the sword is not old; Zhu Jian plays an enlightened capitalist, Ji Yanping plays the secret agent Black Peony; as well as Qian Sijian and Cheng Zhen, Hong Liyong, so many family and first-class actors, the stars bake the moon, full of brilliance; plus the wonderful group dance scene choreographed by Huang Doudou, the atmospheric stage lighting video, all make Mayor Chen Yi, starring Sun Xuchun, more weighty.

"Chen Yi in Shanghai" is a great success in the beginning, if it can be finely polished and processed, it will definitely become a masterpiece of modern Shanghai opera. (Dai Ping)
