Liu Huaqing's first association with an aircraft carrier can be postponed to 1970, when he was 54 years old. That year was 18 years after Liu Huaqing joined the Navy.
But soon after, due to a series of changes, Liu Huaqing's "aircraft carrier dream" was also stranded.
The stranding in 1970 did not cool Liu Huaqing's fiery heart for the aircraft carrier.
