Character comic (24) 丨The father of China's aircraft carrier - Liu Huaqing

Biography:

Liu Huaqing was born in 1916 to a poor family in Huang'an, Hubei Province. In 1930, at the age of 14, he signed up for the Red Army and subsequently joined the Long March, serving as section chief of the General Headquarters of the Eastern Hubei Guerrilla Army.

Character Story:

I believe that everyone is deeply impressed by a photo, during his visit to the United States in 1980, the elderly General Liu Huaqing tiptoed and "listened" to the explanations of the US soldiers, and asked for advice like a primary school student, which made countless Chinese people cry.

In 1982, Liu Huaqing was appointed commander of the Navy, and after he took office, he carried out drastic reforms, with more than 70 reforms. He once said at a conference: "Naval strategy involves the top-level design of naval construction, and there are two major problems in development: one is the aircraft carrier, and the other is the nuclear submarine." These two pieces of equipment are not only for war, but also for watching in peacetime, and looking is deterrence! ”

Under the leadership of Liu Huaqing, naval equipment has been replaced, guided missile destroyers, missiles, aircraft, and other weapons have been equipped to the Navy, China's coastal defense strength has been greatly enhanced, and the task of aircraft carrier construction has been put on the agenda.

General Liu Huaqing once said, "If China does not develop aircraft carriers, I will not be blinded!" On January 14, 2011, General Liu Huaqing died of illness in Beijing at the age of 95, and a year after his death, China's first aircraft carrier officially entered the sea.

Character Quotes:

"If China does not develop aircraft carriers, I will not be blinded!"

Bowing down and dying is a reflection of his life. Today, China's naval development, as he once wished, the beautiful ideal he has worked so hard to pursue is gradually becoming a reality. (Edited by Guo Hong, comic book author Feng Huo)
