Gong'an County completed the monitoring of hepatic fluke disease and soil-derived nematode disease

Recently, the Public Security County CDC completed the monitoring of liver fluke disease and soil-derived nematode disease in Jinma Village, Nanping Town, Gaojian Village, Tawau Di Town, Xinshuguang Village, Maojiagang Town, Tanjia Village, Huangshantou Town, and Xingfu Village, Lotus Pond Town.

According to the "Hubei Provincial Surveillance Plan for Hepatic Fluke Disease and Soil-derived Nematode Disease" (2020 edition), Gong'an County was selected as the 2020 provincial-level hepatic flux surveillance county for hepatic flux and soil-derived nematode disease. In this monitoring work, 200 residents over 3 years old were sampled in each village, covering all age groups of children, youth, middle age and elderly, and the improved Kato method was used to conduct microscopic examination of fecal specimens for liver flukes and soil-derived nematodes, and children aged 3-9 years were added to the transparent adhesive paper swab method to detect pinworm eggs.

Hepatic flukes are a parasite that parasitizes the bile ducts in the human liver, and is clinically manifested as dyspepsia, fatigue, epigastric pain, and hepatomegaly. Soil-derived nematodes are nematodes that directly infect humans after the external development to the infectious stage, such as roundworms, whipworms, hookworms, pinworms, etc. Liver flukes and soil-derived nematodes are parasites that seriously affect the health of the masses, this monitoring can not only effectively protect the health of the people, but also understand the epidemic dynamics and influencing factors of liver fluke disease and soil-derived nematode disease in the county, grasp the epidemic law, predict the epidemic trend, and provide a scientific basis for the state to formulate prevention and control countermeasures.
