According to the BBC, mexico's "black bears" who have taken selfies with tourists have recently been neutered and will be sent to other regions.
Last month, some netizens uploaded a video of a black bear hugging a woman's thigh near the Chipink Ecological Park in Mexico, and a few days later in the park, the same black bear stood up and sniffed the hair of female tourists, and also took a selfie video together. As a result, the young male black bear weighing 96 kilograms became a hit.
Residents near the Chippink Ecological Park nicknamed it "Friendly Bear" and named it "Chipi" after the park where it lived. Recently, the authorities considered it a danger to visitors to the park, arrested it and sterilized it.
Dave Garshelis, a scientist who studies bears, said in an interview with ABC last year that despite the rarity of attacks, an average of one person in North America is killed by a black bear each year.
According to reports, Martin, director general of Mexico's Federal Environmental Protection Agency for wildlife control, said that Kipi would be placed in the Nido Mountains in Chihuahua State and neutered to avoid fighting with other bears.
The sterilization and relocation plan caused dissatisfaction among netizens. Some netizens said: "It was the girl who invaded the bear's territory, and the bear did not go to her house to smell her hair, which is ridiculous." But others commented on social media that whatever led to the official decision, anger should be directed at those who feed the bear and get it closer to those who want to take a selfie with it.
