It is understood that in order to fully grasp the current situation of forest harmful organisms and meet the needs of scientific prevention and control and ecological civilization construction, the State Forestry Administration is carrying out the third phase of forest harmful organisms census work nationwide from 2014 to 2016. This year, on the basis of the field census work in the previous two years, the Forest Defense Station of the Forestry Administration focused on doing a good job in checking and filling in the gaps in the field work of the forest pest census, and carried out internal industry collation, specimen identification, classification and archiving, and regularly reported the progress of the census work every month. In view of the fact that forest defense work in forest areas is facing a critical period of alternating between the old and the new, forest defense stations at all levels in forest areas have further strengthened institutional construction, selected and cultivated talents from among the transferred workers in the front line of raw timber production, and at the same time further strengthened the infrastructure construction of the forest defense front in forest areas, and strived to make the new professional force grow as soon as possible and lay a talent foundation for the prevention and control of forest pests.

Strict phytosanitary management can effectively prevent the introduction of foreign forest pests into the forest area and avoid causing damage to the forest. This year, the forest defense departments in all parts of the forest area have further intensified on-site quarantine, strictly eliminated the occurrence of missed inspections, strengthened the quarantine of seedling transportation, and put an end to unlicensed transportation. Intensify the treatment of burnt and insect-infested wood to ensure that no forest pests are disseminated to the outside world. They increased the survey of dry moth pests in the storage yard, systematically observed the life history, and formulated reasonable pest control measures. Strengthen the management of quarantine certificates and quarantine fees, implement a system of exchanging old certificates for new certificates, and register and file certificates one by one for inspection and ensure the smooth development of quarantine work.

The prevention and control of forestry pests has a strong technical and professional nature, and the improvement of the level of prevention and control technology requires strong scientific and technological support. In accordance with the requirements of the "Opinions" of the State Council, the Forest Defense Station of the ForestRy Administration has effectively enhanced its scientific and technological support capabilities, conscientiously carried out scientific research and scientific research project declarations, actively developed into the research direction supported by the state, so that the level of forest pest control technology in forest areas has entered a new stage, and this year it will focus on the implementation of the "Larch Eight-toothed Beetle Aggregate Development and Utilization" promotion demonstration project and the "Dance Poison Moth Comprehensive Prevention and Control Technology Research" project construction.
