Laugh at the history, hello everyone! Today I would like to talk about a figure in the recent history of North Korea.
Li Xi, emperor Gaozong, was born in 1852 and died in 1919. It was precisely because of his sudden death that it directly became the fuse of the "March 1st" people's uprising in North Korea, and the flames of the anti-Japanese struggle quickly burned throughout the thousands of miles of Korea. Next, I'll take a look at the ins and outs of this matter with you.

Lee Hee was the 26th king of the Lee Dynasty of Joseon, and he ascended the throne for two reasons, one was that his predecessor Jeongjong of Joseon died early in his thirties without an heir, and the other was the result of years of painstaking drilling by Lee Hee's biological father.
Li Xi's biological father was named Li Yunying, a man with great ambitions who would also know how to protect himself and wait for opportunities, that is, he pushed his son Li Xi to the throne.
During The reign of Li Hee, his father, Li Yun, was given the title of "Daewonjun" and became the only person in Korean history to receive this title during his lifetime; he served as the "Grand Superintendent of the Dayuan Position", and successively took charge of state affairs three times, and his power was tilted to the opposition.

But Li Xi's father brought him a puppet-like life, why did he say so?
Because Li Xi was only 12 years old when he ascended the throne, he naturally needed to assist people, and his father took office, and the young Li Xi immediately began a life of glory and wealth for a generation of emperors, and also began a life like a decoration.

When Lee Hee was 15 years old, according to his father's arrangement, he married his mother's relative, Min Shi, who was known in Korean history as Princess Min, known as "Empress Myeongseong".
Li Xi completely ignored the existence of Concubine Min for the first three years, and indulged in the palaces of other concubines every day, and it was his snub for three years that led to a political struggle that lasted for more than twenty years, the protagonists of which were his father and wife.
What was Princess Min doing in those three years?
Instead of complaining about her husband's disregard and snub, she immersed herself in studying ancient Chinese historical works such as Zuo Zhuan, which benefited her greatly in her later political career.
Li Xi turned to min three years later, perhaps because Min's forbearance and lack of concern aroused Li Xi's curiosity and desire to conquer, so he abandoned the other concubines.
Princess Min had an heir in favor of Li Xi and gradually entered the political arena, which aroused the alarm of Li Xi's father, and the two began to form a confrontational situation.

Earlier, Li Xi's father, Li Yanying, was described as "Mingzhe protects himself and waits for an opportunity", why?
Since the 22nd monarch of the Joseon Dynasty, Lee Suan, the monarchy of the Joseon Dynasty, has been controlled by the foreign relatives and the Kim clan.
Li Yunying, who had been pretending to be stupid in order to save his own life, had deceived the magnates of the Anton Kim clan headed by Princess Zhao and relaxed his vigilance against him.
It was only after he had a hard time pushing his son to the throne and expelling all the people involved in the Andong Kim clan from the imperial court to establish the long-lost royal majesty; and his daughter-in-law Consort Min first vigorously encouraged Li Xi to be pro-government, in order to force Li Yanying to retreat, with the ultimate goal of seizing power in the imperial court.
How could Li Yun easily give up power, this was to ask for his old life, you can imagine what kind of struggle Li Xi's father and wife would be.
So, what is Li Xi doing at this time?

Because the government had long been run by Li Xi's father, Li Xi's personality also formed a cowardly and unserious personality, coupled with Concubine Min's provocation and advocacy, making Li Xi also dissatisfied with his father, and then put his position on the side of Concubine Min.
At this time, Li Xi not only sided with Concubine Min, but also obeyed what he did, but in fact, he broke away from his father's control and entered the era of his wife's control.

At this time, due to the long-term internal struggle for power and profit, the national strength of the DPRK was declining day by day, coupled with the overthrow of the "closed country" policy of the Min Fei faction, the DPRK was fully opened.
As a result, the forces of other countries have taken advantage of the situation, which means what kind of situation will North Korea face?
Li Xi's death
As mentioned earlier, because the death of Lee Hee became the fuse of the "March 1" people's uprising in North Korea, why is this? Because after Li Xi's death, the words "Li Xi died of a toxic attack" came out of his palace.
It is said that the Japanese instructed the Korean traitors to put poison in the vinegar that Lee Hee ate, and after Lee Hee ate the vinegar, he soon had a toxic attack and then died at three o'clock in the morning.
It is said that after Li Xi's death, his eyes were scarlet, his whole body was covered with red spots, and there were signs of decay in parts of his body, which was extremely abnormal for people who had just passed away, unlike dying of illness.
So, whether the North Korean people think that Lee Hee's death was caused by the Japanese, whether it is reasonable or not, let's take a look at what Japan did after entering Korea.
On June 21, 1894, the Japanese minister to Korea led troops into the palace, robbed the treasures gathered by the Lee dynasty, and left without explanation.
In October 1895, the Japanese minister in Korea and the captain of the Japanese guard sent Japanese troops to surround the palace, and broke into the palace with a knife, killing the queen, ministers, and palace women, basically completely annihilated.
On both occasions, japan ignored the dignity of the Korean king and acted inhumanely, and Li Xi wanted to seek help from the Russians in addition to fear.

He once turned to Russia for help
On February 11, 1896, Li Xi escaped from the palace gate in a palanquin and hid in the Russian legation in Korea. He completely forgot that Russia was another country with ideas to enter, and that Li Xi's arrival was in line with the wishes of the Russians, who had planned to kidnap him.
At this time, Li Xi also saw through the true face of the Russians, tried to leave by all means, and returned to the palace, and the Russians instigated the Korean traitors to poison Li Xi.
September 12, 1898, Li Xi's birthday.
At that time, Li Xi was preparing to take a sip of the tea bowl presented, when he smelled a strange smell in the tea bowl, he put down the tea bowl and did not dare to drink it. Li Xi's son saw that his father was like this, so he took a small sip from the tea bowl, who knew that he immediately fell down and fainted, fortunately, the emergency rescue was escaped.
The above also shows a problem, either Li Xi's death and Russia's involvement, or each doing its own bad thing.
Lee Hee and his family
This can be said to be a wolf before and a tiger after a tiger, and Li Xi lives in an environment where the is assassinated at all times, and he is miserable.
So in 1907 he sent envoys to the Second "Peace Conference of All Nations" to demand the protection of Korean independence and the abrogating Japan's treaty of protection of Korea.
Who knew that Li Xi's request did not pass, and was hated by Japan. The Japanese forced Lee Hee to abdicate in 1907 and imprisoned him in the palace, bringing his son to power as Chunjong.
The two fathers then began puppet careers, imprisoned in the royal palace as special subjects under the japanese emperor, and Japan was the supreme ruler of Korea.
In 1917, when the news of his fourth son's marriage to a Japanese woman reached his ears, Li Xi couldn't help but feel sad and indignant, so he couldn't afford to fall ill.
On January 22, 1919, Li Xi died suddenly at the age of 67.
Lee Hee's funeral
After Lee Hee's death, the Japanese authorities issued a proclamation saying that "King Lee Hee died suddenly due to cerebral hemorrhage," but did not publish a detailed report of his condition, which caused indignation among the North Korean people.
Men, women, and children all over north Korea wore ma dai filial piety to mourn Li Xi, and there was an endless stream of mourners for seven days and seven nights.
On March 1 of the same year, in Tadong Park, Seoul, when the congress read the Declaration of Independence, the North Korean people sang the song of "The Restoration of the Motherland", waved a small national flag, and shouted with their arms: "Long live the independence of Korea!" ”
Crowds of people flocked to Deoksugung Palace, where Li Xi's coffin was parked, all shouting, "North Korea is the North Korea of the Koreans!" Get out of the way for the Japanese and the Japanese troops! ”
Although the Japanese army wielded swords and sticks at the Korean people with bare hands, they could no longer extinguish the flames of this anti-Japanese struggle.
At this time, in fact, the cause of Li Xi's death is no longer important, what is important is the national self-esteem touched by this, which turned this state funeral into a national uprising.
