Pioneers, in danger
Yang Chengwu was born in October 1914 in Changting, Fujian. During the Long March of the Red Army, Yang Chengwu, who was only 20 years old, served as the political commissar of the Fourth Regiment of the Second Division of the First Red Army, leading the Fourth Regiment as the vanguard of the vanguard, all the way through the thorns and thorns. Yang Chengwu's loyalty, bravery, and wisdom, and many of the strokes of Genius in Mao Zedong's strategic thinking, such as breaking through the Xiang River, flying to seize the Luding Bridge, and outwitting the natural danger of Lazikou, were all life-and-death battles that determined the fate of the Red Army, such as Yang Chengwu's leading forward troops, who had bloody blood to kill a way of life and a road of victory for the Red Army.

In May 1935, the Central Red Army followed shi dakai's marching route to the Dadu River, which coincided with the flood season of deep water and high waves. Chiang Kai-shek thought that it was a good opportunity, and Yanludinghe Chen had hundreds of thousands of soldiers, clamoring to let the Red Army be the second Shi Dakai. Liu Xiushan, an old man at Anshun Field, recalled:
"This is Yingpan Mountain, Shi Dakai is stationed here, his whole army was destroyed in this Camp Panshan, Chiang Kai-shek said Zhu Mao, today is just like Shi Dakai."
But the Red Army was not the peasant rebel army of that year, and Mao Zedong was not Shi Dakai. Mao Zedong locked his eyes on the Luding Bridge and entrusted the Red Fourth Regiment with the arduous task of the fate of the Red Army.

In the face of danger, Yang Chengwu led the Red Fourth Regiment as the vanguard regiment and pounced on the Huding Bridge; in the face of the storm, he walked on steep cliffs and steep cliffs, forcibly marched 240 miles in twenty-four hours, setting a record for the highest record of the world's military history for the march on foot, and arrived at the Huding Bridge on time.
The whole regiment did not have time to rest, and selected twenty-two commandos, equipped with submachine guns and sabers, climbing thirteen iron ropes with thick bowls, and braving the rain of artillery shells of the two regiments on the opposite shore. Yang Chengwu personally led a company of twenty-two warriors, laying bridges while fighting, and then entered Huding City, annihilating most of the enemy and capturing the whole city. General Yang Chengwu recalled the battle to take off and capture the Luding Bridge before his death, and he was still full of emotions:
Chiang Kai-shek's pursuing troops had already chased after them on their tails, and the troops of Liu Xiang and Yang Sen had already intercepted them by taking advantage of the natural danger of the Dadu River in front. Chairman Mao Zedong, Vice Chairman Zhou Enlai, and Commander-in-Chief Zhu decided that, in addition to crossing the river with a few boats snatched by Anshunchang, we would want our four regiments to go straight from the west bank to the Luding Bridge and restrict us to taking the Luding Bridge one day and one night. At 240 miles, he ate a thin porridge and fought two battles to eliminate most of the enemy's regiment. ”
Of the 22 warriors, 4 died and 18 survived. In order to commend the Red 4 Regiment, in addition to awarding a prize flag, the Central Military Commission also issued a set of Lenin clothes, a pen, a diary, an enamel bowl, and a pair of chopsticks printed with the words "Awarded by the Central Military Commission" to the commandos, political commissar Yang Chengwu, and regimental commander Wang Kaixiang. Although it was not a valuable item, it was the highest reward that the Red Army could get at that time!
The Battle of Luding Bridge was thrilling, and Yang Chengwu later recalled that he was still upset, and wrote down "Boundless wind and rain night, the heavens are crossed." Torches followed the march, and flying soldiers seized Luding. " poems.
Liu Wensheng, deputy director of the Fujian Provincial Revolutionary History Memorial Hall:
"General Yang Chengwu is known as the vanguard of the Long March, and the military and government are excellent. The troops he led often did a good job of political work, their morale was particularly high, they were able to fight in the habit of fighting, and they were particularly brave in fighting. In particular, he is good at mobile warfare, including offensive battles and ambush battles. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Japanese army was terrified when they heard his name. ”

In the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Yang Chengwu led his troops to continue to build qigong repeatedly, and the battle of Loess Ridge under his command annihilated nearly a thousand Japanese troops and killed Lieutenant General Norihide Abe, the brigade commander of the independent mixed second brigade. The Asahi Shimbun in Tokyo, Japan, reported with a banner headline lamenting that "in the history of warfare since the founding of the army, there is a rare precedent for a lieutenant general-level commander to die on the front line of the battlefield." That year, Yang Chengwu had just turned 25.
At present, the Fujian Provincial Revolutionary History Memorial Hall has a collection of Abe Norihide's military coat, which is a national second-class cultural relic, and displays Yang Chengwu's outstanding military achievements for posterity. Lin Qilu, docent of the Fujian Revolutionary History Memorial Hall:
"In this battle, we successfully killed more than 900 Japanese troops, including Japanese Lieutenant General Norihide Abe, who was called the "Flower of Famous Generals" by the Japanese military circles, which was also the highest level of Japanese general killed by our Eighth Route Army in the entire history of the War of Resistance. ”
