Alberto Grimaldi, producer of "The Golden Trio" and "Gangsters of New York," died at the age of 95. Grimaudi's son, Maurizio Grimaudi, confirmed the fact of his death to foreign media, adding that his father died of natural causes.

Born on 28 March 1925 in Naples, Italy, Grimaudi founded his own production company, P.E.A., in 1961. Grimaudi's first feature film was the Spanish Western The Shadow of Zorro, which was released in 1962. In 1964, Grimaudi made his first Italian Western, The Two Marshals. P.E.A. was active until the early 1980s, often co-producing with Spain and West Germany, and the company was known for producing low-budget action films.

In 1965, Grimaudi first collaborated with Sergio Leone on the international co-production Twilight Double Dart, starring Clint Eastwood. The following year, the two also collaborated, with Grimaudi producing Leone's epic Italian Western, The Golden Three, which grossed $25 million and made Eastwood famous.
