In April 2021, the police received a report from the Deyang Carrier Pigeon Association that some people in Zhongjiang have been hunting birds with bird catching nets, shotguns and other tools in the migratory bird migration corridor for a long time, endangering the safety of birds. Deyang Public Security immediately instructed the forest police departments at the city and county levels to take the lead and jointly carry out the "Guardian Spirit" special operation with multiple police departments.
According to reports, the police have dispatched more than 400 police personnel, 13 drones, and cleared more than 10,000 square meters of bird-catching nets. Through meticulous investigation, several criminal suspects such as Zeng and Li were successfully arrested, 85 carrier pigeons were rescued, and the masses were helped recover nearly 1.5 million yuan in economic losses.
The police handling the case traveled more than 5,000 kilometers day and night to find 72 victims of 20 carrier pigeon associations in 6 cities and prefectures of Deyang, Chengdu, Mianyang, Leshan, Meishan and Zigong, and met one by one to collect evidence.
The police arranged for special personnel to properly manage and feed the 85 carrier pigeons rescued in the "Guardian Genie" special operation. At the scene, after checking personal identification information and carrier pigeon related information, 85 rescued carrier pigeons were sent back to their respective owners one by one.
