Many years ago, when I was buying figs on the side of the road, the boss said that his son was 30 years old and did not go out every day, did not go downstairs to help her sell figs, and liked to stay alone in the room since he was a child, not to communicate and play with other children, and from the chat I learned that his child had autism.
Every year, 2 April, it is designated as World Autism Day.
According to a statistic, there are currently more than 10 million autistic people in China, of which about 8 million are over 14 years old.
I once saw an expert on the Internet say that the main clinical manifestations of autism are manifested in the developmental disorders of speech function, social communication disorders, stereotyped behaviors, and mental development delays.
In life, there are also many stories of marginalized special children (autism, disabilities, etc.). For example, the picture book I was reading recently, "The Story of Xiao Bi".

Xiao Bi's story is the representative of thousands of autistic children in China, a closed world, how does one person go? If the people around us could extend their hands and give good intentions to warm this group, their world would not become so lonely.

This book was created by the author Song Zhenxian based on his own childhood experience.
When the book is called "I" in the first person, there is a child named Xiao Bi who is locked up at home all winter.
Spring came, and Xiao Bi was the first to come to the woods, and he was always alone.
He had no friends, no school, and every day he wandered alone in the woods, knocking on his head with branches as he walked.
This is where autistic children are different from normal children. It is precisely for this reason that Xiao Bi has become a "strange person" in the eyes of children.
Children of the same age whispered about Xiao Bi in private, was he having a brain problem? Is he sick enough to infect people?
Look at the way he walks, like a cripple, and hit his head like that, it's not stupid to be weird.
All the classmates avoided him, never went into the woods to play with him, and even laughed at him.
Xiao Bi never went near other children, just stayed alone.
Later, "I" took the initiative to go into the woods and stay with Xiao Bi, and Xiao Bi was no longer afraid to go to the forest, and I did not feel bored, and I began to like xiao Bi to become friends.
Since then, the other children will hide away when they see "me". Even when I go to school, my classmates have to stay away from "me."
Later, I left Xiao Bi again.
When I saw Xiao Bi on the way home, I quickly walked away and pretended not to see it.
Xiao Bi was another person, he gradually walked deeper into the forest, "I" could no longer see Xiao Bi, and every evening in the forest there was the voice of Xiao Bi's mother calling Xiao Bi.
The private ridicule and disregard of the students and even the distance away have made Xiao Bi's originally closed heart slowly close again, just like the gray and white tone of the book, Xiao Bi's inner world has always been gray, and there is no color shining in.
It was not easy for "me" to become the best friend with him, Xiao Bi's world had more color, but because "I" was afraid of my classmates looking at my eyes, I began to shrink back, and I did not have the courage to continue to be a companion with Xiao Bi, so I chose to leave Xiao Bi and walk alone, Xiao Bi's heart once again felt ignored, so he began to close his world tightly, and walked alone to the deeper and deeper forest.
If every child does not have so many "stereotypes" about Xiao Bi, perhaps Xiao Bi, in getting along with "me", begins to try to go out of his heart and contact various things that he has not experienced.

This is a picture book for marginalized groups, and maybe you also have a small Bi around you, and Xiao Bi's emotions are changing because of the children.
The childhood Xiao Bi has always remained in "my" mind.
At that time, the cypress forest attached to the paper mill was very large. In a forest covered with conifers, there are houses for people to go to the paper mill, and my father is the manager of the power company, so our family lives in this house. But when the paper company went out of business, the people who lived in the company house dispersed, and the forest and Xiao Bi disappeared from my memory.
Later, "I" became a father and spent two years to paint this "Xiao Bi's Story" for my daughter.
Each stage of life will have different feelings, maybe as a child, I have already felt the sense of loss of being snubbed and ignored, and then maybe I have found myself doing something wrong, but because of the helplessness of moving, I am separated from Xiao Bi.
Childhood regrets cannot be repaired. Growing up, the author has realized the helplessness of this marginalized group, they urgently need the attention of society and the group, so they personally depict their childhood experiences, and want to use this book and the role of a father to tell us that every child needs love and warmth, and do not let the child lose himself on the way to growth.
As the author says, I want you to see children with disabilities, as well as marginalized children who can't fit into their peer groups.
The author hopes that through this book, more people will pay attention to autistic children, warm their hearts through acts of kindness and love, and make the hearts of autistic children no longer lonely and confused.
If there are marginalized groups around you, I also hope that you can look at them with a level eye, be kind to people, and give help in time when they need help, so that love can continue and be warm because of love.
As the cover of the book says, may every kindness have enough courage, and may every child not have to grow up alone.
