The original text of the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" reads: "The first general, it was Cai Yang, who raised his sword and drank heavily: "You killed my nephew Qin Qi, but you fled here!" I'm here to get you!" "It seems that there is a look of attention, but the facts tell us that it is not enough to have momentum, just listen to a drum, Cai Yang's head landed on the ground."
Presumably, everyone can't help but ask, how powerful is this Cai Yang's martial arts, and how dare he pursue and kill Guan Yu for thousands of miles?
There is not much historical record of Cai Yang, but the only thing we can know is that he went to Runan, as the commander of the First Army, under the orders of Cao Cao, to attack Gong Du and others who were united with Liu Bei. Under the fierce general Cao Cao, Cai Yang was able to lead the army alone, indicating that although his position in the army was not as high as that of the concubines, it was still a little higher than that of the five sons of Liang at that time.
Moreover, according to many oral records, Cai Yang was a general in Cao Cao's army and a famous swordsman in the world, and his sword skills were extremely profound, although he was over sixty years old, but his courage did not decrease in his prime, even Xu Chu, the first fierce general in Cao Cao's army, did not dare to say that he could defeat Cai Yang steadily. In this way, Cai Yang's martial arts may not be as good as Guan Yu's, but he will definitely not be cut off so easily.
In the History of the Three Kingdoms, Cai Yang appeared twice, the first time at the Battle of Guandu, when Cao Cao ordered him to attack Gong Du in Runan, where he was defeated. After Guan Yu killed Qin Qi, Cao Cao's general Xiahou Huan was furious and led 300 iron horses to pursue and kill them, and no matter how much persuasion was put in his way, he could not persuade Xiahou Qi, and it was not until Zhang Liao came that he had the above dialogue.
Therefore, the real reason why Xiahou Huan pursued and killed Guan Yu was actually that he himself could not explain to Cai Yang, Qin Qi, as his own general, was easily killed by Guan Yu, and Cai Yang was bound to come to him to ask for guilt, but how many martial generals who could make the fierce Xiahou Huan afraid of "coming to the door"? Even he did not dare to despise Cai Yang, indicating that Cai Yang was either higher in status than Xiahou Huan or even more powerful than Xiahou Huan.
In fact, the appearance of the role of Cai Yang is obviously a dragon set role arranged by Luo Guanzhong in order to highlight Guan Yu, and he is almost negligible in the history. But his nickname of "Sword Ancestor" is not just a rumor, in folk literature, Cai Yang is a fierce general with high martial arts.
