The good natural environment and diverse habitat types of Puzuhei Wetland in Qiubei County have bred rich biodiversity and endemicity, providing valuable habitats for 823 species of plants and 208 species of birds and other animals.
There are 823 species of vascular plants in the wetland, belonging to 151 families. Among them, there are 46 species of ferns in 17 families, 16 species in 6 families of gymnosperms, and 761 species in 128 families of angiosperms. Among them, there are 4 species of rare and endangered plants under the national level II protection: sea cauliflower, wild diamond, fan fern, and arrow leaf large oil mango.
There are 6 species of amphibians belonging to 1 order and 3 families. There are 10 species of reptiles belonging to 1 order and 3 families. There are 16 species of mammals belonging to 6 orders and 8 families.
There are 89 species of fish, of which 3 species are endemic to the Qiubei Karst wetland, namely the Mound North Blind Plateau Loach, the Qiubei GoldenHair and the Eagle-beaked Golden Ray.
There are 208 species of birds, of which a total of 22 species are listed in the List of Wild Animals under National Key Protection, including 2 species of Golden Eagle and Oriental White Stork, and 20 species of National Grade II Key Protected Birds, such as Mandarin Duck, Bee Eagle and Iris.
