Machang Town is located 23 kilometers west of Yangxian County, with an area of 47.4 square kilometers, connected to Xiecun Town in the southeast, Yuangong Town in Chenggu County in the west, and Yishui Town in the north. The town has 12 villages (communities) and 101 villager groups, and by the end of 2020, the total population of the town is 5317 households and 17412 people. In 2020, the per capita net income of the town will reach 13,000 yuan. The cultivated land area is 21,659 mu (including 10,926 mu of paddy fields and 10,733 mu of dryland), and the forest area is 25,860 mu. In 2020, Ma chang town was successfully created as a municipal key town for provincial tracking and guidance.
Machang Town is also the hometown of the old hero Zhang Fuqing, a recipient of the "Order of the Republic" and a model of the times. In December 1924, Zhang Fuqing was born in Shuangmiao Village, Machang Town. In March 1948, Zhang Fuqing joined the Chinese People's Liberation Army and became a soldier in the 6th Company of the 2nd Battalion, 718th Regiment, 359th Brigade, 2nd Column of the Northwest Field Army, and joined the Communist Party of China in August of the same year. In the army, Zhang Fuqing fought bravely, was not afraid of sacrifice, and was awarded the honorary title of "Combat Hero" twice by the Northwest Field Army. In 1950, he was awarded the "People's Meritorious Service" medal by the Northwest Military and Political Committee. After retiring from the army and changing careers, he took the initiative to choose to work in Laifeng County, the most remote county in Hubei Province, and dedicated his life to the poor mountainous areas. Since then, his outstanding battle achievements have been buried in his heart and he has not mentioned a word. It was not until more than 60 years later that his deeds of meritorious service and award were known to the outside world, and then his deeds of hiding his meritorious name touched all of China.
Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, president of the country, and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made important instructions on the advanced deeds of Comrade Zhang Fuqing, stressing that the old hero Zhang Fuqing has hidden his meritorious name for more than 60 years, and has adhered to his original intention and not changed his true colors all his life, and his deeds are touching. In the army, he defended his homeland; to the localities, he benefited the people. He wrote a wonderful life with his simplicity and purity, indifferent fame and fortune, and was an example for the officers and men of the vast number of troops and retired soldiers to learn from. It is necessary to actively carry forward the spirit of dedication and gather the powerful force of all people to strive for the new era. The Yangxian County CPC Committee actively implemented the requirements of the PARTY Central Committee, the Provincial PARTY Committee, and the Municipal CPC Committee, and at the same time as the decision of the whole county to carry out the activity of learning from Comrade Zhang Fuqing, it repaired Zhang Fuqing's former residence and built the Shuangmiao Village History Museum, which has now become the base for education in the history of the COMMUNIST Party in Yangxian County.
