Zhang Liling, president of Japan's "CCTV Dafu": Because of love, I insist

("Quiet Talk Japan" WeChat public account)

China Overseas Chinese Network, July 4 - Xu Jingbo, president of the Asia News Agency, published an article on the WeChat public account "Jing said Japan" to tell the experience of Zhang Liling, president of "CCTV Dafu", working hard in Japan, and expressed her praise for her persistence in founding Chinese media.

An excerpt from the article follows:

About Zhang Liling to dinner, about a month and a half, either she traveled, or I traveled on business, and finally on the last day of June, Yan An, president of the Japanese Chinese Chamber of Commerce, did the east, and ate a Japanese meal in Ginza together. Yan An is a dancer of the Zongzheng Song and Dance Troupe, and he has a star sister-in-law named "Xu Qing".

Why rush to dinner on the last day of June? Because July 1 is the 20th birthday of Zhang Liling's company.

Zhang Liling's company, which has a very loud but still very rustic name, is called "CCTV Dafu", and its headquarters is in Ginza, the busiest commercial street in Tokyo.

Everyone knows that "CCTV" is the English abbreviation of China Central Television, but what about "Dafu"? Someone asked, "Did you switch to the two people of Tieling?" This seems to seriously demean the poetry of "great wealth"! Because the "big rich" here is actually a shortening of the name of the shareholder company, "big" refers to okura corporation, okura corporation has a hotel, called "okura hotel", the hotel designated by successive U.S. presidents, in China, managing the "Shanghai Garden Hotel". "Rich" refers to Japan's Fuji Television, and the TV series you are familiar with are "Tokyo Love Story", "White Tower", "Under the Same Roof", "HERO" (Legal Hero), "The Great Search Line", "Not Married", etc., which are all works of this TV station.

In fact, "CCTV Dafu" also has a major shareholder hidden behind the scenes, its name is "Kyocera". If you haven't heard of "Kyocera," then I'll tell you another person by name, Kazuo Inamori, the founder of Kyocera and the staunchest supporter of CCTV Daifu, who is known as the "God of Japanese Management."

Zhang Liling is the president of "CCTV Dafu", and most people like to call her "President Zhang", although she does not look much like the president.

Zhang Liling is my Fellow Countryman in Zhejiang, perhaps because she is too petite and gentle, she has always had a feeling of "little sister next door".

Although she was younger than me, she came to Japan to study abroad earlier than I did. In 1989, he went to Japan to study until he graduated from Tokyo Gakugei University with a master's degree in stage directing. After graduating, he entered the Okura Commercial Office.

Sitting in the office of this international trading company, Zhang Liling's mind is not thinking about the soybean coal trade, but is paying attention to the survival stories of Chinese students, and she wants to make TV movies of international students!

I have never understood how Zhang Liling fooled Fuji TV's most bullish feature film director, Takaharu Yokoyama, to form a film crew and follow her for 10 years to shoot the stories of Chinese students studying in Japan, and did not take anything.

Yokoyama Takaharu once said: "I have seen countless women in the world, Zhang Liling is the most difficult woman to deal with!" She would argue with me in a whisper for three hours, and finally force me to surrender. ”

What documentary TV films did Zhang Liling shoot with the Yokoyama team? Let's start with the first one, called "Little International Student" – maybe you've seen it, or you've heard of it.

The feature film depicts Zhang Su, a third-grade elementary school student in Beijing, who went abroad with his mother and reunited with his father, who worked in Japan, and became a "primary school student". Zhang Su, who is both excellent in character and learning in China, can't understand a word when he arrives at an unfamiliar classroom, and he often cries in a hurry. Despite the difficulties, Zhang Su still studied Japanese with the help of teachers and classmates and adapted to the exotic environment. When she left Japan two years later, she was not only the best student in her class, but also formed a deep friendship with her teachers and classmates.

This series of documentaries, including "Elementary International Student", began filming in 1996 and has been filmed for 34 years. At that time, Zhang Liling worked in Okura during the day and took films and cuts at night, 7 days a week, and she only slept for 2 days. Okura Shogun said, "Zhang Liling, if you continue like this, I will fire you." ”

Zhang Liling "hi" a sound, the next morning rushed to work, sitting in front of the computer without moving, the boss came over to look at her, gently draped her shawl - she fell asleep.

Yokoyama is a titan documentary filmmaker who has won more than 20 TV awards, even though the entire production team didn't ask for a penny. However, it costs a lot of money to shoot transportation, accommodation and meals, and rent editing equipment. Zhang Liling initially borrowed $100,000, and later borrowed $100,000, and when she borrowed $300,000, her mother said to her daughter with tears: "How can you afford it later?" ”

In the mid-1990s, the average monthly salary of Chinese was only 500 yuan. However, Japan's per capita monthly salary has reached more than 20,000 yuan. Zhang Liling finally borrowed $100,000, and even arrested her sisters as buddies, and finally interviewed 315 people, tracked and photographed 66 Chinese students, and filmed 1,000 hours of video footage.

I asked Zhang Liling: "In case the show doesn't air, have you really not thought about how to pay back the 400,000 US dollars?" Zhang Liling said: "I thought that if I owe a lot of money for this, then I will definitely use a lifetime of work to repay." ”

In 2001, "Elementary International Student" was broadcast on Fuji Television. Fuji TV received more than 500 touching phone calls that night. When Japanese financial leaders and president of The Oxtail Electric Company saw Zhang Liling, he actually burst into tears, saying: "I want to set up a scholarship for Chinese students."

In that year, "Little Student" won the "Tv Documentary Award" of the "Japan Broadcasting Culture Fund Award", which is known as the Oscar of Japan, which is the first time that a television work produced by Chinese in Japan has won this honor, and Zhang Liling personally also won the "Planning Award".

The second TV film film made by Zhang Liling that caused a great sensation in Chinese and Japanese society was "Living with Tears".

Zhiqing Ding Shangbiao and his wife returned to Shanghai, interrupted in their studies and without any skills, making it difficult for him to move in this transformative society. With the encouragement of friends, Ding Shangbiao flew to Japan on the other side in June 1989 and began the road of studying and starting a business. In Akancho, Hokkaido, he and his compatriots studied hard for the future, but eventually had to flee Hokkaido for a living and came to Tokyo, becoming an illegal detainee. In order to earn a little more money to create a good reading environment for his daughter, he worked alone in Japan for 15 years. In the 10-square-meter snail house, it is even necessary to catch the bath water with a plastic bag before it can be introduced into the sewer. Because he was a black hukou, he could not return to China to reunite with his wife and children. The family is on opposite sides, bitterness, misunderstanding, understanding, all kinds of emotions, words are difficult to exhaust. When the daughter grew up to be admitted to the United States as an international student, the family finally had their first reunion in Tokyo, and the father she saw was no longer a handsome handsome man, but a middle-aged man who had begun to bald. When sending his daughter to Narita Airport, because Narita Airport wants to check the IDENTITY card, Dad can only get off at the previous stop, through the window glass, the family is separated, the wife cries, the daughter cries, and the father can't help but cry.

In 2006, this TV film was broadcast on Fuji TV's prime file in a rare Chinese Chinese with Japanese subtitles, and the Japanese archipelago was shocked and moved! 4 million people gave testimonials online. A housewife wrote a letter to Fuji TV, leaving the following sentence: "After crying and watching, my soul is like being washed, and I know what love is in my family." Although it is a crime for foreigners to stay in Japan illegally, I understand better the purpose and pursuit of many Chinese in Japan, especially for the sake of their families. More people say that from the protagonist, they understand what is "character" and have nothing to do with the rich and the poor. Another person who wanted to commit suicide wrote to Zhang Liling: "Tomorrow I will start a new life."

This documentary is the closing work of Zhang Liling's "My Study Abroad Life Series", which condenses the painstaking efforts of Zhang Liling and the film crew for 10 years. In the past ten years, they have traveled to Japan, China, and the United States, recording the lives of Ding Shangbiao's family of three. Later, the TV film was made into a documentary film, which surpassed the box office record of "Avatar" after being staged in Japan.

Zhang Liling won the "TV Documentary Award" of the Japan Broadcasting Culture Fund Award.

In the late 1990s, the Chinese government began to attach importance to external propaganda work, and CCTV wanted to land in major countries in the world, but it worked hard for a long time and has not been able to enter the Japanese market. CCTV found Zhang Liling, and the enthusiastic Zhang Liling found her boss and Fuji TV and lobbied them to invest. As a result, Okura Corporation and Fuji Television could not resist Zhang Liling's pleading and agreed to fund the establishment of "Daifu TV", but there was one condition: whoever took over would be the president.

Therefore, Zhang Liling, who had not yet been the head of the class, was pushed to the position of president.

On July 1, 1998, the "CCTV Fortune" channel was officially launched in Japan. This is a "China Television Station" jointly funded by Japanese companies, which mainly broadcasts four sets of central programs. However, at the beginning, the central four sets of programs only broadcast 6 hours a day, of which 2 hours were in English, and they were free to watch in China, and in Japan, a market with near-fierce commercial competition, it was difficult to sell to the audience for a fee.

Zhang Liling used the four words "can't look back" to describe the experience of hard work in that year: from the localization of the program, to the installation of antennas for users, to the increase in the broadcast of Chinese domestic TV dramas, the production of Japanese Chinese news, the landing of Hong Kong television, the simultaneous interpretation of japanese "News Network", the Japanese live broadcast of the Cpc Congress and the Two Sessions of the National People's Congress. In the past 20 years, CCTV has grown from scratch, from small to large, little by little. Nowadays, Dafu already has two 24-hour TV channels broadcast by CCTV and Phoenix Satellite TV, and 6 years ago began to realize the localization of CCTV Dafu Chinese and Japanese bilingual broadcasts and multiple derivative media such as "Dafu Newspaper" and mobile phone network, the channel has basically entered Japan's 4-star hotels or more, and the total number of signed rooms has reached 160,000 rooms, surpassing the US CNN and the BBC in the United Kingdom, becoming the largest foreign TV channel in Japanese society. For the first time, CCTV has been broadcast localized on the entire overseas channel.

Not only that, Zhang Liling also brought the Chinese People's Liberation Army Symphony Orchestra to Tokyo to hold a concert, so that the Chinese military orchestra went abroad for the first time, and went to Japan, so that the Japanese people could feel the goodwill and charm of the Chinese soldiers at close range. At the same time, Zhang Liling also organized Japanese primary school students to beijing to participate in the performance of the CCTV "June 1st" Children's International Festival Gala.

Recently, under the planning of Zhang Liling, CCTV Dafu and Fuji Television and China Wuzhou Communication Center jointly launched the filming and production of the "China Story" series of programs, through the recording of the real and touching stories of friendly exchanges between the Chinese and Japanese people in the past 40 years, some of the programs were broadcast on the ground channel of Fuji Television, so that the Japanese people saw the friendship between the two peoples, but also saw the great achievements of China's reform and opening up in the past 40 years.

On the night of July 1, I rushed to Dafu TV station to participate in the 20th anniversary celebration. In the conference room, Zhang Liling has been staring at a group photo, she said: "This is our first board photo, these are all gone, only this one is still alive." ”

On the same day, the Nippon Keizai Shimbun published a full-page advertisement in Japan congratulating people from all walks of life in Japan congratulating CCTV Daifu TV on the 20th anniversary of Taiwan, Kyocera Honorary Chairman Kazuo Inamori, Canon Chairman Mitsuru Fuji, Fuji TV Honorary Chairman Hieda Hisa, singer Shinji Tanimura and other people from all walks of life in Japan said a congratulatory message that made Zhang Liling feel Alexander: Let's look forward to the next 20 years together and adhere to the next 100 years!

That night, we sang together, and Zhang Liling sang a song by Ishikawa Koyuri's "Sky City Yue". "Amagi Echikoshi" is a famous Japanese song with the lyrics: "If anyone wants to take away my love, I will kill you!" ”

Zhang Liling said: "If you don't love everything, it will be really difficult to insist on." (Xu Jingbo)
