On the occasion of The Bird Love Week 2021, more than 50 bird watchers from Jiangsu Province have carried out a 24-hour concentrated bird observation activity in Nanjing cities such as Purple Mountain and Liuhe Wetland since 5:00 a.m. yesterday (April 24). A total of 149 species of birds were observed in the bird watching competition.

Green Water Bay Wetland Park is a special favorite place for bird lovers, and winter migratory birds and summer migratory birds will come here at different times to overwinter or breed and breed. This large grassland, originally a fish pond, withdrew last year, and the wild weeds that grew wild became a paradise for birds, and more than a dozen pairs of gray-headed wheat chickens were distributed in different areas to incubate eggs. Xin Yi of the Jiangsu Bird Watching Association introduced that this site is a good shelter, and at the same time, the gray-headed wheat chicken also likes this kind of relatively empty place to avoid human interference. Grey-headed wheat chickens are very territorial, and if they get close, they will drive you away, roar loudly, or circle around you. It is even said that it will spray feces on people when it is forced to be urgent.
Compared to its unassuming face, the crested is larger, gorgeous appearance, and adorable courtship dance, making it a popular bird.

In a wide pond in Green Water Bay, bird lovers found that after experiencing the vigorous dance of love, the cresteds were already hatching eggs. The reporter saw that sometimes it would leave the nest of the incubated eggs to wander around, and the bird friends analyzed that the temperature may be too high to let the eggs dissipate heat.
After the total ban on fishing on the Yangtze River in 2020, Green Water Bay was fenced off for closed protection and management. This wetland park, which is usually almost uninhabited and has not yet been developed, provides a very quiet living environment for birds and also provides a rich source of food. In Green Water Bay, the contestants found more than 50 species of birds. In addition, the ten groups of bird watching teams are also full of harvest, and bird friends not only have to fight for their eyesight, but also listen to the birds according to the birdsong that comes from time to time in their ears.
