queen

The Queen

Director: Stephen Frese

United Kingdom / France / Italy

In 1997, Princess Diana died in a car accident, and the whole country was devastated, but the British royal family took an attitude of evasion and alienation. This indifference infuriated many British people. Anti-royal sentiment among the population was quite high, and the emergency situation plunged the royal family into a serious crisis.

However, King Elizabeth did not come out to stabilize the people's hearts, but hid with her family in the holiday palace. Tony Blair, who had just become Prime Minister at this time, must find a balance between the interests of all parties as soon as possible to get the royal family out of the crisis of trust, and the Queen to repair her relationship with the people and establish her own authority in it.

An excellent small entry point, with the queen's dilemma within a week, to write about the world's hearts, right and wrong disputes, and the changes of the times. Photographing something that is not very interesting is pulling, interlocking, exquisite and precise, extraordinary skill, and the pen and brushwork are all contemporary.

In contrast to the extremely neat production, the amazing acting skills under this one do not seem to feel a slight difference from anyone, and the actor Helen Mirren has contributed an incredible performance.

Director: Andrew Hagrid

United States

Set in modern San Francisco, Quest shows slices of the lives of three friends, Patrick, Augustine, and Dom, and their friends/lovers. It is considered to be the most realistic and influential gay American drama after "Comrades and Mortals".

The film version of "The Quest" tells the story of Patrick, who has left San Francisco, and returns for two days because of Augustine's wedding.

In just eighty minutes, "Seeking" completes two themes:

The atmosphere and emotions between people, different stages, different forms, there is no change in love, only adaptation;

Life is not stopping, the search for self is endless, and the pace is non-stop. In the first two seasons, we thought we were talking about three friends looking for love, but the movie version revealed the mystery: in fact, everyone was looking for themselves.

For a fan who has been running since Hagrid's first feature-length work (Pete's life), after the last three years of "Seeking" and last year's "45 Years", Hagrid clearly has the signs of promotion to the master, and the huge emotional impact expected and brought about by watching this movie. Or it should be said that even if this movie was shot ten years after I no longer loved to watch movies, I would still refresh the network as soon as possible, find resources, download and watch.

Can give people the impression of watching the "Love In" series trilogy, the first two seasons of the series of thick, real human sculpture is indispensable, under the washing of the flow of life, even a look, a little thought, an action, have the magic of breathing. Even if it is not to say that all the details that hit people's hearts have been compared in the first two seasons, this emotional laying out will take so long to complete. Perhaps this will answer why hagrid was able to complete it more than "45 Years" in just 80 minutes.

Of course, it is a pity that in the end, a dramatized plot was placed on the male second, and the existence of another screenwriter (Lannan's) dog blood grabbing circus prevented the film and the series from taking it to the next level. Therefore, I still love "45 Years" more.

Code seven

Seventh Code

Director: Kiyoshi Kurosawa

Japan

Akiko can't forget Matsunaga, a man she met in Tokyo and shared a meal with, and travels to Vladivostok, Russia. Although Matsunaga had no impression of Akiko at the time of the reunion, he disappeared after admonishing him not to trust others casually abroad. When Akiko searches for Matsunaga, she is attacked by the mafia and is left in a desert on the outskirts of the country in rags.

Is this really the truth of the matter?

Every time I recommend Kiyoshi Kurosawa's film, I am embarrassed, but I feel that no one is promoting him at all, so I am still silently promoting him, (┬_┬). Because some of his films/dramas, such as this one and "Atonement", are not difficult to "understand", but it is very difficult to really understand, if you do not use some extraordinary ways, you may only conclude that Kurosawa Kiyoshi is making "mediocre bad films".

My personal understanding is that the film shows a girl's exotic dream in a period of sixty minutes, but it does not make any explanation in content, nor does it shoot the real reality exit, but directly shoots the dream; on the basis of this content, through the arrangement of the realistic elements and dream elements, the form is made to make a neat and strange, real and fantasy fusion.

In this fusion, most viewers are easily hypnotized by appearances, and they will probably come to the conclusion that there are layers of mistakes in the design, confusion in the genre, and even a film that has no effect at all. This is the reason for my embarrassment: Kurosawa kiyoshi deliberately made a movie that appeared to be a bad film to hypnotize the audience to make them think it was a bad film, and did not give any explanation at all, is this not to increase the workload of writing film reviews and embarrass the audience? Now people are lazy, who will help you overturn the case for free.

It was made to subvert everything, full of destructiveness, and Kurosawa Kiyoshi hid the destructiveness, like the bomb that was wrapped up in the final truck, and it would explode only when it was touched.

How to say it? If you remember and really enjoy the 40-minute dream in Roadside Picnic, then maybe you'll love this more purely straightforward piece too. The difference is that it does not carry out more eye-catching modifications, and everything that happens in the dream seems so pure and incomprehensible, and the realistic exit of the dream can also be ignored, as long as it stays in a slice. And does the film have to make this exit to be understood by the audience? Maybe. Then the very existence of this film is a provocation to the audience.

The Tree of The Transcendent Gods

charisma

Veteran police officer Sakaike mishandled a kidnapping case, resulting in both the kidnapper and the hostage-taking mp being shot and killed. After this, he was ordered by the leadership to rest. Before the kidnapper died, he left a mysterious sentence of "restoring the laws of the world" on his body, hoping that Xue Chi would convey it, and he was quite curious about it, so he used the holiday to go to the mysterious forest where the kidnappers had been haunted. On the first night, a strange woman set fire to him, and Xue chi escaped.

The mountain was once overgrown with lush beech trees, but with the arrival of an unknown tree, the flowers and trees around it died at an incredible rate. The tree secretes venom from its roots, and no other plant escapes its clutches.

The soul of the magic pool that suddenly accepted the expulsion order and fell into the magic pool seemed to be controlled by someone, and the memory and thinking began to become increasingly confused. Here he meets Naoto Kiriyama, a young man who worships the tree and believes in a mysterious religious organization, and Kiriyama firmly believes in the theory of "survival of the strong", so he confronts the forest guards who insist on cutting down the sacred tree. The widow of the deceased Sect Leader is delirious and uses Xuechi as a stand-in for her husband.

On the other hand, the botanical expert Mizuko and her sister have their own opinions on the treatment of the sacred tree, and Mizuko seems to have found the cause of the poison, and she wants to destroy the sacred tree. However, her sister tells Sakaike that Mizuko is behind everything.

Everything is caught up in a mystery, and what was originally just a curious xuechi is unconsciously involved in this series of strange and strange events.

Unlike the "Seventh Yard" recommended above, although he has watched more than a dozen Kurosawa Kiyoshi movies, this "Extraordinary Divine Tree" is estimated to be the most difficult movie for him to enter, which is very difficult to understand.

Kurosawa's cinematic approach is still destructive. Even if he could have made a lot of visual spectacles, Kurosawa Kiyoshi did not exert efforts on those points of focus, although mysticism is unrealistic, he tried his best to realistically make the scene realistic, and some scenes that originally had visual strength were also destroyed. The performances and actions of the characters are dramatized for no reason, but they do not give a sense of drama, they are very cold; and in some passages, it becomes comedy. In other words, although it is a strange and chaotic story, this is not a strange and chaotic movie. The reason why it appears mysterious without relying on these means comes from itself, or the film is the mystery itself: it does not depend on mystery, it creates mystery.

So it is difficult to find the entrance to it (compared to the old tower is quite good). I searched very hard for a whole movie time and then..... It ended in failure, and only the synopsis of the first half of the above part was sorted out (no spoilers).

If you insist on saying that you feel what this movie is about, maybe the ultimate tragic fate of mankind comes from the law of the world , the "theory of evolution"? But surely, it's far from that simple. I specifically found Xu Haofeng's opinion on this film from the book, and he mentioned that "The Extraordinary Sacred Tree" is a reflection on Bushido, the spirit of Wendao and Zen Buddhism in a postmodern context, including the history and current situation of Japan, and the fate of mankind. Well, it looks pretty reliable. But it seems to be more than that.

In fact, recently, I also watched Kurosawa Kiyoshi's "Séance" and "Hidden Corpse Pavilion", which are two horror films about psychics, thousand-year-old female corpses, and mourning ghosts. But as mentioned earlier, it is not too embarrassing to push this director again. After all, watching movies is very subjective, and individuals feel that their abilities and insights are extremely limited, so it is indeed unusually difficult to understand some Kurosawa Kiyoshi films. Under the premise that you are not clear, don't harm the reader....

Big Dad, Little Dad and other stories

Father and son and

Director: Pan Dangdi

Viet Nam

At the end of the 1990s, in Saigon, Vietnam, where family planning was still in place, photography students rented a room in a shared apartment. With a gift from his dad, a brand new camera to explore different people, places, and surroundings. He was particularly fascinated by his roommate Don.

Don always hangs out with drug dealers, gamblers and prostitutes at night. One day, another roommate who was a street singer was robbed. When Wu and Tang rushed to the rescue, they were also hunted down and eventually forced to abscond to the village of Wu in the Mekong Delta. There, Wu's father introduced him to a door-to-door wife.

This wonderful love story goes against the backdrop of taboo homosexuality and state sanctions, straight to the private level. The director uses natural landscapes, the wetness of the Mekong River and the airtight jungle to metaphorically describe the emotional world and psychological state, and hint at the ultimate tragedy.

Watching this movie is like traveling through a time and space, and if you are not careful, it is easy to jump to the Vietnamese film of "Drunken Life dream death".

A taboo traditional state of youth writhing and the livelihood of the underclass rush. The ambiguity and sacrifice of several people, the sentient beings of countless people. Condensed blank expression, poetic lens, like a charming tropical picture scroll collaged with multicolored mosaics. Between the city and nature, every corner seems to overflow, emitting damp heat.

Miss

Miss

Director: Park Chan-wook

Korea

Korea, during the Japanese occupation in the 1930s. A young girl is hired as a maid in the home of a wealthy Japanese lady. The latter lived in a huge manor house and was supervised by an overbearing uncle. But the maid had a secret. With the help of a swindler posing as a Japanese earl, they thought they had set some other trap for the lady. But is that really the case?

(Three-and-a-half) The awakening of female consciousness and feminism are given way to the lust and deformity of xiangyan, less and more lust, both empty and vain, but also immersive, overflowing, just what Park wants, but when the third part begins to reveal Park's iconic hands, I really want to sigh: Park who is not the same as before, can never go back. And the advantages and disadvantages of the previous part are somewhat similar, in the exquisite set, beautiful picture wrapped, the mediocre overall does have a lot of bright parts.

The Aviator

Director: Martin Scorsese

USA / Germany

Howard was born in Houston, Texas, and at the age of 18, he inherited the fortune of his father's Texas oil well and moved to Hollywood with a movie dream. In 1926 he bought control of 125 theaters, spent millions of dollars on the live-action air combat epic film Hell's Angels, and became a famous producer; in 1939, he joined Universal Airlines, where he quickly turned the company around, working with the U.S. military during World War II to preside over the invention and improvement of the Blue Spruce aircraft.

While he was a great success in his career, he also suffered from depression and mental obsessive-compulsive disorder; his emotional life was full of twists and turns, which also hit him hard.

A biopic in which editing and cinematography was very disturbing, in contrast to Little Plum and Martin Scorsese's later collaboration On The Wolf of Wall Street.

Director: Lorenzo Vegas

Venezuela / Mexico

In caracas, the chaotic capital of Venezuela, amado, an aging middle-aged man, owns a dental clinic. He often lurked at the bus stop, looking for young boys to accompany him home for the night. One day Armando comes home with 18-year-old Older, the head of a small gang.

This emotional relationship will change their lives.

Last year's Golden Lion Award in Venice, it was like a cold joke, even if I didn't go to see it with high expectations.

The physical, monetary, emotional relationships similar to "love", identity (class differences) in the struggle and checks and balances between each other, are fierce. An old man and a young man broke into each other's lives, a more profound "Oriental Boy", but unlike the Venice "Oriental Boy" that year, the deep excavation sacrificed the characters. The characters are dry, the logic is paradoxical, the symbols are too obvious, and the WTF bridge sections such as homophobia, that is, deep cabinets, are frequently flashed.

Although the Golden Lion is not so, but in recent years, how many times has the Golden Lion been there? Only getting blinder. I hope that this year's Venice Film Festival, with The Infinite Force, the Wei Feng Tang, and the Great Righteousness, can revitalize the majestic wind. (hhh)

Hungry hearts

The Indigo Child

Director: Savirio Kestanzo

Italy / USA

Italian girl Na and American young Jude fell in love with each other in the Chinese restaurant bathroom, and they soon had their first child.

However, Mina, who believes in religion, has revealed extreme parenting scriptures since she was pregnant, she believes that the psychic predicted that her child has unusual abilities, and insists on raising children in a completely "natural" way that only eats vegetables; after the birth of the child, Mina intensifies, trying not to let the outside world have any relationship with the newborn, all daily diet, but also rely on the vegetables she grows on the small balcony to satisfy, the child has gradually deformed.

Jude, who was initially tolerant of his wife, began to take action when he realized that his son had not grown up and was on the verge of starvation.

(Three and a half stars) Although this movie in Venice the year before, including the next film queen + movie emperor, the white night and the silent image of the postman became the second winner of the cold branch, but in fact, it is a relatively weak one of the four. Still, the work itself is stunning enough: with such a small cut and such a strange perspective, it creates a story of two mothers who spread the sterile virus of paranoid affection and affection into the supposedly beautiful life and destroy everything.

It is a pity that the heroine with iq and rationality is almost infinitely negative, completely reduced to a collection of symbols under the theme, but these symbols also help the film to bring out a little different temperament, and it is hard to twist the realism out of a surreal flavor. The first time I saw someone using some horror thriller technique to make a baby-rearing movie, and then because of the very intense plot and theme, the final effect was that it was made more terrifying than a horror thriller. If you're worried about being too hot, watching this one may be able to lower the fire. (Now heterosexual movies, all go horror department..... )

Roadside picnic

Kaili Blues

Director: Bi Gan

Chinese mainland

In the mysterious and humid subtropical countryside of Southeast Guizhou, in the foggy Kaili County Clinic, the two doctors are worried and live like ghosts. Chen Sheng, in order to fulfill his mother's last wishes, embarked on a train to find the child abandoned by his brother; another lonely old woman asked him to bring a photo, a shirt, and a cassette tape to his old lover who was seriously ill. On the way to Zhenyuan County, Chen Sheng came to a place called Dangmai, where time is not linear, and people's lives complement and dissolve each other. He seems to have lived through the past, present, and future, rethinking his own life.

In the end, Chen Sheng went to Zhenyuan and just looked at the child from a distance with a telescope. Gave the old woman's keepsake to her old lover's son. A man stepped on the train again. I can't tell if this world is my memory or if I am a fantasy of this world.

Although there are many shortcomings, as a debut work, I still give four stars after thinking about it for a long time. Roughly speaking, it can be seen as a "Kairi Crossing", about time and love, we can also immerse ourselves in these objects for a longer and deeper time. It is a great surprise to see that China can have such a young talented director, he is not China's Tashi or Apichatpong (the way of playing is different after all), he is China's Bi Gan.

Finally, I recommend an American drama that has been very popular recently

Stranger Things Season 1

Stranger Things Season 1

Director: Sean Levy / Matt Duffy / Ross Duffy

In Indiana in the 1980s, a young boy mysteriously disappears; his friends, family, and local police begin to search for answers, but are caught up in a mysterious event full of secret experiments and terrifying supernatural powers, and a strange little girl seems to have a lot to do with the incident.

The play is the screenwriting debut of the Duffy Brothers.

The last three episodes are well written, and the pits set up step by step in front of them are basically round back. A drama that is traditional and old-school from the inside out, except for the filtered characters and the plot that is not fresh, other departments can give 4 stars + or even 5 stars. The surprise lies in the various types of mix-and-match and the use of various elements, many homages to the memes, and the look and feel is indeed hi.

Unfortunately, as far as sci-fi horror is concerned, the skin and flesh are still hot, and they have not yet penetrated the heart. At present, everyone is really in a state of excessive reputation, and eight points is enough. To say more, if you are worried about being too hot, watching this movie can really lower the fire.

Well, that's it, and the monthly inventory next month will continue.
