The Anne Animation Outstanding Achievement Award ceremony will be held in February 2019
On Monday, the International Animation Film Association (ASIFA-Hollywood) announced the list of nominees for the 46th Annual Annie Awards. Hosoda's Mirai and MFKZ (Mutafukaz), co-produced by Studio 4 and Ankama, were nominated for Best Animated Independent. Other nominees include Ce Magnifique Gateau!, Ruben Brandt, Collecto, Tito and the Birds, and more
Mirai was also nominated for the Outstanding Achievement in Animation Creation Award. Other nominations include "The Incredibles 2", "Invincible Destruction King 2: The Internet", "Spider-Man: Spider-World" and "Teen Titan Strikes".
In addition, Canadian game developer Eidos Montreal's Shadow of the Tomb Raider game was nominated for Best Animated Character in a Video Game category. Japanese game developer and publisher Square Enix released the game.
The main nominations for Best Animated Feature were The Incredibles 2, Isle of Dogs, Invincible Destruction 2: The Internet, and Spider-Man: Spider-World.
ASIFA-Hollywood added the Best Independent Animated Feature Film Award in 2016 with the aim of "recognizing not only films released on a large scale, but also indie animators, international studios, and animation that might otherwise not receive the attention they deserve." Last year, Sunao Katabuchi's "In This Corner of the World" and Kenji Kamiyama's "Napping Princess" both received Oscar nominations, but none of them officially won. Production I.G's "Miss Hokusai", Michael Dudok de Wit and Studio Ghibli's "The Red Sea Turtle", and Makoto Shinkai's "Your Name". Both were nominated for the 2016 award, with the official award being won by The Red Sea Turtle.
