Tesla CEO Elon Musk appeared in court on Monday to defend the company's 2016 acquisition of SolarCity, where he engaged in a heated confrontation with prosecution lawyers and denounced the other side as a "bad breed."
While Musk was humble at first in court, sparks quickly emerged when the plaintiffs' lead attorney, Randall Baron, began questioning.
In the first 30 minutes of cross-examination, Musk blamed the poor performance of SolarCity after the acquisition on the coronavirus pandemic. He believes the company has no chance of succeeding because Tesla and other offices have been shut down.
But Mr. Musk's lengthy explanation of the straightforward questions upset Barron, who mostly asked "yes" or "no."
