English players again subject to racism Hungarian football hooligans clashed with British police

Hungarian football hooligans clashed with police and managers at Wembley Stadium during the World Cup qualifier against England on Tuesday (October 12), according to Agence France-Presse.

Shortly after kick-off, in a corner of the stands at Wembley Stadium, someone among the around 1,000 Hungarian fans on the scene caused trouble. Dozens of Hungarian fans stormed the stadium managers, who were forced to retreat before police arrived at the scene waving batons. The clashes lasted for several minutes, and riot police finally took control of order in the stands and inside the stadium.

British police took extra security measures before the match to avoid clashes with Hungarian fans, but their efforts to maintain order were apparently unsuccessful.

According to the BBC, nearly 1,000 Hungarian fans booed a total of nearly 1,000 Hungarian fans when England players knelt down on one knee and held up banners to protest anti-racism before kick-off. A statement from the London Police said officers entered the stands and arrested a Hungarian fan on the spot, citing inappropriate remarks he made to a stadium manager, which was a serious crime of public order. The statement added that "when the officers made the arrests, there was a slight disturbance. ”

England manager Gareve Southgate said he did not know the seriousness of the incident at the time. "I only heard the news in an interview and I knew there was a riot. It sounds unacceptable, but I haven't seen the details yet. Southgate said.

The match ended 1-1, with Sarai scoring penalties for Hungary and Stones equalising for England. The English Football Association said after the match that it would investigate and report the incident to FIFA.

This is not the first time Hungarian fans have clashed with England in qualifying. In September, England beat Hungary 4-0 in Budapest. In that qualifier, the England players were subjected to racist abuse and in the second half they were attacked with throws, with Hungarian home fans throwing a signal bomb on the pitch. FIFA initiated disciplinary proceedings after the match. (Editor: SDY)
