On May 3, 1928, Japanese imperialism massacred Chinese soldiers and civilians in Jinan, Shandong Province, killing more than 17,000 people, and 18 Chinese diplomats, including Shandong special negotiator Cai Gongshi, were tied up and beaten. Cai Gongshi rebuked the Japanese army according to reason, and the Japanese army actually cut off Cai's ears, nose, and tongue, gouge out his eyes, and then killed him with everyone else.
In April 1928, the Kuomintang began the second "Northern Expedition". The Northern Expedition led by Chiang Kai-shek was victorious and soon invaded Shandong Province.
Chiang Kai-shek led the National Revolutionary Army in the Northern Expedition, and Japanese militarism feared that once China was reunified, it would not be able to allow Japan to invade wantonly, so it did its utmost to obstruct the Northern Expedition. In May 1928, in the name of protecting the overseas Chinese, Japan sent troops to Jinan, Qingdao and Jiaoji along the railway line, preparing to stop the Northern Expedition of the National Revolutionary Army by force.
On May 3, 1928, a soldier of the Northern Expeditionary Army was shot for no reason when passing through the Japanese military warning zone, he did not have a gun in his hand at that time, and then the Northern Expeditionary Army had retreated, and the Japanese army still suddenly opened fire, resulting in huge losses in two battalions of the Northern Expeditionary Army, and then the Ninety-second Division of the Northern Expeditionary Army and other troops began to fight back, and the Japanese commander saw that the situation was not good, so he sent a message threatening Chiang Kai-shek, if the fire did not stop, China and Japan would start a full-scale war.
Cai Gong went to the Japanese military headquarters to negotiate but never returned, when the Japanese army directly ordered Cai Gong and five other people to be tied up, but also snatched five large bags of documents to go away, and even completely put the death of the two Japanese soldiers on China, and still did not understand the anger, the Japanese officer slapped Cai Gongda's blood, and Cai Gong just happened to be a patriot, so he reprimanded the Japanese army, and finally was brutally slashed by the Japanese army, and even directly cut off the nose, but Cai Gong still did not give in. Even the inhuman form, who had been persecuted, resolutely said that Chinese could not be killed and disgraced, and sacrificed his precious life.
Due to Chiang Kai-shek's blind forbearance, after the Northern Expeditionary Army withdrew from Jinan, the soldiers and civilians in Jinan were massacred in an inhumane manner.
On May 11, with the retreat of the Northern Expeditionary Army, the Japanese army began to enter Jinan, and even openly carried out the entry of the city to show the prestige of the country, and began an inhuman massacre, killing and injuring more than 17,000 soldiers and civilians, the whole of Jinan was plunged into a bloody rain, the Japanese army entered the city almost killed people, and even cut off the organs of civilians, the degree of ferocity is outrageous.
The Japanese army carried out a terrible massacre: shooting at the sight of people, cutting off both breasts when they saw women, and stabbing them to death with knives. It was a river of blood, corpses strewn all over the place, unbearable to see, and the whole world was indignant!
At present, on the east bank of the west moat in Jinan, there is a monument lying down, and in the middle of the sleeping stele is a raised giant white marble calendar, the right page is engraved with the date of the "May 3rd Massacre", and the left page is engraved with "Chronicle of the Jinan Massacre". Not far from the monument, Baotu Spring Park also has a memorial hall for the Jinan Massacre. In addition, at 10 o'clock on May 3 every year, Jinan City will sound air defense sirens to commemorate the "May 3rd Massacre" and remind the people of the world not to forget the national shame.
The weakness of the state is not immune, and the people are not immune. Many times history is like a scar, we should not hide the scars of the past, and only in this way will we not have new scars.
