The zodiac woman who "dressed the world"

The zodiac woman who "dressed the world"

Zodiac Po is a great historical figure that is both familiar and unfamiliar to people. Familiarity is said because in textbooks from primary school to high school, the title of Zodiac Is always mentioned repeatedly; but in fact, everyone is only familiar with the name zodiac, and what kind of person she is, people seem to have only a vague impression in their minds: Zodiac was a famous female weaver in ancient times, who made outstanding contributions to cotton textile technology.

Huang Daobo was born in the Area of Wunijing in Songjiang Province, which is now The Town of Huajing, Xuhui. In fact, in the Shanghai area, the story of The Zodiac has been circulating for hundreds of years. Shanghai folk song "Huang Mother-in-law, Yellow Mother-in-law, teach me yarn, teach me cloth, two tubes and two horses of cloth", Jiangnan region still circulates this song praising Huang Daobo's promotion and teaching of textile technology in his hometown.

When he was young, Huang Daobo lived in the Yazhou area of Hainan Island, where he learned the technique of spinning and weaving. After 30 years, she returned to her hometown and brought back to her hometown weaving techniques such as "wrong yarn, color matching, yarn, and flowering" to her hometown to teach all cotton textile processing techniques to local people, promote and develop the local weaving industry, and make Songjiang weaving famous in the north and south of the river, and Songjiang Province once became the center of China's cotton textile industry.

People often say that "the people take food as the sky", but you can carefully ponder the four words of "food, clothing, shelter and transportation", but the word "clothing" is placed in the first place. China has been a state of etiquette since ancient times, and the first impression of treating people and things is clothing, and the status of clothing in the hearts of ancient people can be seen. Before the development of the cotton textile industry, silk and hemp were the two most commonly used fabrics by the ancients, but silk was mostly used by dignitaries and nobles, and the ancient working people used linen more. At that time, cotton cloth was a rare material, and if you wanted to wear clothes made of cotton, you could only buy and sell them from abroad or border areas such as Hainan, Yunnan, and Xinjiang through the Silk Road.

Everyone knows that there is an idiom called "clothing homecoming", the idiom "clothing" refers to the clothes worn, and "brocade" should refer to silk woven with different colors and patterns, that is, the so-called "brocade weaving". I think that huang Daobo, as an ordinary working person, although she can't go back to her hometown in a real brocade dress, she can wear the cotton cloth clothes she weaves and sews herself back to her hometown and bring the cotton textile technology back to her homeland.

With the development of the cotton textile industry, the living conditions of local residents have been significantly improved, and the good name of zodiac has spread throughout the world. Her technical experience and selfless teaching help to the people of the agricultural era are like a long drought, in order to thank the Zodiac Po for her significant contribution to the cotton textile industry and the blessings she brought to future generations, Huajing Town built the Zodiac Po Memorial Hall.

In the courtyard of the memorial hall, there is a statue of Zodiac Po, and the horizontal criticism of "clothes under the world" behind it is an affirmation of this first person in China's textile. The history of the Zodiac, recorded in the memorial, is the story of her search for textile technology, which has gone through many obstacles and ultimately benefited her ancestors.
