In October 1991, Liang Hong left for retirement. Although there were many injuries on his body, when the leaders mobilized him to serve as the secretary general of the Guandu District Elderly Sports Association, he promised: "At work, I am retired, but organizationally I have not left the party!" The organization came to invite me to show that I was still useful, and if there was a point of heat, I would send a point of light. Then he went straight to work.

At that time, sports for the elderly was a new concept, and Liang Hong, who took office as secretary general, was a little confused in his heart, how should this work be carried out? At that time, there were many employees in Guandu District who had nothing to do after retirement, and could only bask in the sun and chat under the corners of the wall, and some went to the tea house to play mahjong.

In order to change the status of retired workers, Liang Hong began to teach himself croquet. He himself worked as an athlete, referee and coach, introducing the sport to Guandu District. Later, the Guandu District representative team won the second place in the national staff competition.

In addition to the goal, Liang Hong stared at the bridge again. Bridge is a civilized, highly competitive intellectual game, and after learning bridge, Liang Hong became the first person in Guandu District to promote the sport. With more and more people playing bridge, bridge has gradually become popular in Guandu District. Guandu District has organized more than 400 retired workers to participate in bridge competitions. Liang Hong has also been rated as an advanced worker in provincial, municipal and district sports for the elderly many times, and has been re-elected as the secretary-general for four terms in the previous elections of the Guandu District Association for the Elderly.

When he retired from the position of secretary general of the Old Sports Association, Liang Hong was already 82 years old. Tough and bright-eyed, he is a person who can't stay idle, and he often goes to the Guandu District Retired Cadres Activity Center to participate in various activities, and often serves as a coach for skills learning training and a referee for cultural and sports activities.

From 1997 to 2000, Liang Hong went to a training institution to study English. Liang Hong said that learning English was his wish when he was in the Korean battlefield.

During the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, because of his experience as an interpreter, the leaders of the unit arranged for Liang Hong to be a temporary English interpreter on several occasions. Every time he went with the English-Chinese dictionary, there were still some languages that could not be translated. "I'm just a high school graduate, and I can't cope with the usual short English communication, and I can't do anything about it." Liang Hong said, "Since then, I have secretly decided that I must learn English well when I have the opportunity in the future." ”

In the 19 years of university study for the elderly, Liang Hong was rated as an excellent party member three times and a star student. Liang Hong, 92, said he has always pursued the goal of always maintaining the political nature of Communist Party members and walking with the party with one heart and one mind.
