Born in 1925 on Guang'anmen Avenue in Beijing. His original surname was Zhou, and his younger son followed his stepfather's surname, Fang.

September 1931. At the age of 6, he learned to practice basic skills with his neighbor, the famous Wudan Fang Lianyuan.

In 1938, he studied under the artist Zhang Xinkui and learned to play flower face lines, and his repertoire included "Catching and Releasing Cao", "Erjin Palace", "Lost Space Chop" and other 10 or 20 flower face plays cooperated with Lao Sheng and Dan Jiao.

In 1943, while learning drama with Qiu Shengrong, he went out to perform in shifts, and successively performed "The Great Detective II", "Catch and Release Cao", "Lost In the Air", "Zhu Curtain Village", "A Stick of Snow", "Famen Temple", "Three Stores", "Dadengzhou" and other famous actors with Lei Xifu, Ji Yuliang, Shen Jinbo, Hu Shao'an, Meng Youdong, Tang Yunsheng and other famous actors, and toured Beijing, Tianjin, Harbin, Changchun, Shenyang, Baoding, Shijiazhuang and other places.

On April 22, 1989, Fang Rongxiang died in Jinan due to a heart attack at the age of 63.

Fang Rongxiang was good to the teacher and never "drew a clear line" with Qiu Shengrong. When Qiu Shengrong was raided and his original salary was suspended, Fang Rongxiang still secretly sent money to help Qiu Shi. After Fang Rongxiang was "rehabilitated" and received the first compensation salary of 1,000 yuan, he immediately sent his son to the Qiu family in Beijing, and said to his son Fang Lisheng: "Your master's family has a large population, let's be anxious, we can't let the master suffer." ”

Fang Rongxiang's tombstone is engraved with the inscription of Li Ruihuan's "Art Excellence and Virtue, Pear Garden Liufang", and the three characters of "Fang Rongxiang" were inscribed by the famous calligrapher Ouyang Zhongshi.

His repertoire includes dozens of traditional plays such as "Heroes of the Crowd", "Yang Jia general and trial Panhong", "Yao Period", "Dragon Robe after encounter", "The Case of Gongmei", "Xiang He", "Removal of Three Harms", "Chisang Town", "Dragon And Phoenix Pavilion" (Dabaoguo, Exploring the Imperial Tomb, Erjin Palace), "Thief Royal Horse", "Black Whirlwind Li Kui" and other traditional plays, and performing modern Peking Opera dramas such as "Surprise Attack on the White Tiger Troupe" and "Snowflake Drifting".
