The Northeast Anti-Japanese Coalition Army is a heroic unit under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. Its predecessors were the remnants of the Northeast Anti-Japanese Volunteer Army, the Northeast Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Army and the Northeast People's Revolutionary Army. Since the outbreak of the September 18 Incident in 1931, the soldiers have fought for 14 years with no food and grass inside, no reinforcements outside, and climbing ice and lying in snow, fighting enemies that are several times and dozens of times larger than themselves.
In the protracted, arduous, and heroic Northeast War of Resistance, there were some battles that could obviously be won, but the Northeast Anti-Japanese Alliance chose to give up.
Once, Yang Jingyu, commander-in-chief of the First Route Army of the Northeast Anti-Japanese Coalition Army, led a detachment to a village near Hongmiaozi in Xingjing County, Liaoning Province, where the enemy quickly dispatched hundreds of cavalry around him to encircle him because of the traitors' whistleblowing. At this time, the local staff suggested that they be beaten, and some fighters also agreed, "Can beat them to the point of piss!" However, Yang Jingyu disagreed.
"It's not that we're afraid of them, it's not that we're few... I don't fight because the local people will suffer after the fight. Do you think that Japanese devils can not take the ordinary people out of anger... We can't bother the people! After Yang Jingyu finished speaking, the soldiers understood, and the local people were all moved.
Whether to fight or not to fight, Yang Jingyu summed up a "four no-fight" principle: We must not fight battles that the Japanese army is hurting, battles that are not dominant in terrain and terrain, and battles without booty are not fought; and there is another very important one that does not fight battles that are harmful to the local masses.
"Soldiers and civilians are the foundation of victory." The Northeast Anti-Japanese Resistance League maintains close ties with the masses and closely relies on the masses. It was precisely because of the enthusiastic support and vigorous cooperation of the masses of the people that they were able to persist in fighting under the cruel encirclement and suppression of the Japanese army and finally usher in the victory of the War of Resistance.

Don't make a wick without oil
One afternoon at the end of the first month of 1935, the First Army of the Northeast People's Revolutionary Army came to Open a guerrilla zone in the area of Banergou in Huanren County, Liaoning Province. The small village of only 20 or so families was frightened by bandits and Japanese puppet troops, and hid when they saw the team coming.
Unexpectedly, the commanders and fighters of the First Army did not catch chickens, pigs, or live in the houses of the common people, and they borrowed mud basins and axes and returned them immediately. Only then do you know that this is the People's Revolutionary Army, which brings hope for victory!
The news that the troops and the common people were like a family soon spread throughout the eight villages, and a new anti-Japanese guerrilla zone was quickly formed. Yang Jingyu described the troops and the people this way: wicks and lamp oil.
It was 1932, when Yang Jingyu found the Rock Workers' and Peasants' Anti-Japanese Volunteer Army, it was the most difficult time for the team, and morale was low.
At a party meeting held late at night, Yang Jingyu pointed to an oil lamp and said, "You see, this lamp cannot hold oil without a bowl, but if there is no bowl without oil, this lamp cannot be lit." Our Rock Guerrillas are the people's children and soldiers, born and raised there, if there is no base, it is like no home, why should we make a wick without oil? ”
The troops are like wicks of hope, and the masses are like lamp oil for support. Zhou Baozhong, the principal leader of the anti-Japanese guerrilla warfare in the northeast region, clearly pointed out in the "New Outline draft on the Northeast Anti-Japanese National Salvation Movement" that the purpose of the northeast party and the people of the northeast for eight years is to seek the survival of the nation and seek the real welfare of the people.
Zhao Shangzhi, another principal leader of the Northeast Anti-Japanese Resistance League and an anti-Japanese hero, repeatedly stressed within the Zhuhe anti-Japanese guerrillas that we are the people's contingent, the common people are our parents, and it is for the common people to fight Japan.
It is precisely on the basis of the iron law of "rooted in the people for the people" that the anti-Japanese armed forces in the northeast led by the party have opened up various guerrilla areas and created anti-Japanese guerrilla base areas under extremely difficult external conditions. Peasant self-defense forces and young volunteer armies have been extensively established in the base areas, barns, hospitals, clothing factories, repair centers, and other institutions have been built, the economic life of the masses has been organized, and education and cultural remedial work has been carried out. Under the leadership of the party, the masses in the base areas actively produced, prepared for war, and supported the front, and effectively cooperated with the guerrillas in fighting against Japan.
At the end of 1935, under the tempering of the anti-Japanese flame, the anti-Japanese army and people in the northeast under the leadership of the party overcame many difficulties and formed 7 large anti-Japanese guerrilla zones, each of which had one or more guerrilla base areas.

In the vast and sparsely populated land of the northeast, the people of the northeast are accustomed to seeing bandits and devils, and they cannot avoid the "gun holders" and avoid them. However, "hunger does not compete with the people for food, frost does not fight with the people for clothing, and war does not stay with the people", such a strict discipline of the masses, the common people were first surprised and then moved when they saw it.
According to the "Collection of Historical Stories of the Tonghua Revolution" of the Party History Research Office of the Tonghua Municipal Party Committee of Jilin Province, in the summer of 1934, Yang Jingyu led the First Independent Division of the Northeast People's Revolutionary Army to garrison and operate in the Huijiagou area of Liuhe County. One day, Yang Jingyu ate lunch and repaired his socks by the river, and before he could finish, he went to deal with the military situation, and when he returned, he found that the landlord's sister-in-law Fan Dezhen had quietly mended the socks.
Yang Jingyu smiled and said, "Sister-in-law, you are kind, I have made a mistake and violated military discipline." We can't take a needle and a thread from the people, nor can we ask the villagers to work. In this way, Yang Jingyu ignored the persuasion of the people around him and seriously punished himself for standing on a shift.
Wherever it went, the Northeast Anti-Japanese Resistance League enforced mass discipline. Zhao Shangzhi led the troops to march, if they wanted to stay in the middle of the night, although it was raining or snowing, they had to wait outside, send someone to knock softly on the door, and wait for the villagers to open the door and agree, before everyone could enter the house.
A veteran of the Anti-Japanese League recalled that when he bought pork from his fellow villagers, he paid the highest price at that time. In the homes of ordinary people, no matter what delicious things are placed on the table, no matter how the common people let the soldiers eat, no one can move.
The enemy has not only heard of such a Northeast Anti-Japanese Alliance, but is also deeply jealous. In 1936, the Information on the Anti-Japanese Coalition compiled and printed by the Advisory Department of the Puppet Manchu Army and The Political Department recorded: "In May of the eleventh year of Showa (Note: 1936), a soldier of a Red Army unit active in Tonghua County snatched a pair of peasants' pants, and the commander of the unit invited the peasant, apologized to him, returned the stolen goods, and immediately fired the robbery soldier in person. "The activities of the Red Army are exactly the same as those of bandits, and when they eat in the homes of the masses on the march, they must pay for food, they must pay when they take away their belongings, and if there is no cash at that time, they must be returned at a later date." "He was extremely kind and kind to the poor, and when he spent the night, he told the old and the young to sleep on the kang and slept on the ground by themselves. Peasants were also sent on errands to pay a considerable amount. The Northeast Anti-Japanese Coalition fought for the survival and liberation of its fathers and fellow villagers, and the people of the Northeast naturally put the food, clothing, and warmth of the Anti-Japanese Resistance Fighters in their hearts. In order to support the Anti-Coalition forces, many people in the base areas often risked their lives to send grain, clothes, salt, matches, etc. to the secret camp in the middle of the night, or buried them in the snow and waited for the soldiers to dig them up.
After the outbreak of the July 7 Incident, the enemy strengthened its rule and suppression of the people. Li Fusheng, who is more than 60 years old, took his family to settle in Zuocaogou in Linjiang County, Jilin Province. Hearing that the Anti-Coalition forces were active in the vicinity, Li Fusheng handed over his only son to the Anti-Coalition forces and followed Commander Yang to fight the Japanese. He quietly organized everyone to send food and letters to the Anti-Japanese League.
Once, when he was delivering food to the Anti-Japanese League, he was unfortunately captured by the enemy. Rikou forced him to tell him about the secret camp of the Anti-League, and the old man's righteousness was awe-inspiring, and the enemy had no choice, and finally tied him and his wife to a tree, and released a wolf dog to bite the two old men alive. Two days later, the Anti-League painfully annihilated the enemy of the wrong grass ditch and avenged Uncle Li.
There are local folk songs that sing: the stars in the sky, bright as silver, Commander Yang, love the people. Turning to the mountains to fight in the East, he relieved the people of their hatred.
The masses not only did their best to provide supplies and intelligence, but also secretly participated in anti-Japanese activities and sacrificed their lives to protect the anti-coalition fighters. There is an old man, Lü Liangshi, who often supports and helps the Anti-Japanese League, and her home is the traffic station and foothold of the guerrillas.
Li Zhaolin, commander-in-chief of the Third Route Army of the Northeast Anti-Japanese Coalition Army, saw Lü Liang's family walking through the mountains and dense forests all day and named her Liang Shulin. Since then, the name of Liang Shulin has been called out among the people in the countryside. She took Zhao Yiman deep into the village to carry out anti-Japanese propaganda, once encountered the Japanese puppet army, Zhao Yiman was worried that his southern accent would expose his identity, Liang Shulin, regardless of the danger, immediately said that this was the dry daughter she had just recognized, a mute, and since then Zhao Yiman has recognized Lu's mother as a dry mother.

From the winter of 1934 to the spring of 1935, in less than 100 days, Liang Shulin's two sons died in the anti-Japanese struggle. Faced with the pain of losing her son, she acted calmly. Zhao Shangzhi led the main generals of the Third Route Army to come to comfort him, he clasped the hand of Old Mother Lü, knelt down in front of his knees and swore: "From now on, I am your own son, and you are my mother!" We're here to feed you and send you to the end. After that, the anti-coalition fighters called her "mother".
Liu Xian, a research expert of the First Route Army of the Anti-Japanese Alliance, has lived in Jingyu County for a long time, and in the 1980s, he visited many veterans of the Anti-League and the people in the area where the Anti-League was active, and recorded many stories of the Anti-League that were circulated in the folk, such as "Moving the Sauce Tank" and "The Story of Yellow Rice".
Among them, a story of "Anti-League Plum Garden" was passed down by word of mouth in changbai mountainous area. One summer, Yang Jingyu led the team from Fusong to Jinchuan and encountered several plum trees in the Ding family hill. Yang Jingyu saw that everyone had not eaten seriously for many days and wanted to buy some plums to fill everyone's hunger. I didn't expect my fellow to say that this is wild plum, and I can eat it with confidence. Yang Jingyu was half-convinced, and only after questioning did he learn that the Japanese puppet army engaged in "gathering families and tuns" and forcibly drove away the owner of the fruit tree.
While the soldiers were eating plums and cursing the devils, Yang Jingyu said, "Don't forget at all times, we resist the alliance for the common people." He proposed that the plum core be planted into the ground, and when the people go up the mountain again, they can eat the anti-co-seed plum.
The following year, plum seedlings broke through the ground, and many ordinary people transplanted small seedlings to their own courtyards to commemorate those anti-coalition fighters who were for the motherland and the people in this special way.
