Ma Ying-jeou's Involvement in the "Three Middles" Case of Selling At 11:00 a.m., the Taipei Court pronounced its verdict

According to Taiwan media reports, Ma Ying-jeou was charged with trading with the old Central Party Department of the Kuomintang "Three Middle Schools (China Television, China Broadcasting, and China Film)" for violating the Securities Exchange Law and other crimes of special breach of trust, and the Taipei District Prosecutor's Office on July 10, 2018 indicted Ma Ying-jeou, former "legislator" Tsai Zhengyuan and 6 others, after more than 3 years of trial by the Taipei District Court, the verdict is scheduled to be pronounced at 11:00 a.m. today.

There were 6 defendants in the case, including Ma Ying-jeou, former chairman of the Kuomintang Central Investment Corporation, Zhang Zhechen, former general manager Wang Haiqing, former kmt executive director of the Kuomintang Policy Committee Cai Zhengyuan, Cai's wife Hong Lingxiao, and father-in-law Hong Xinxing.

On July 10, 2018, the Beijing Inspection Bureau concluded the case and found that Ma Yingjiu, Zhang Zhechen and Wang Haiqing had caused substantial losses of more than 7.2 billion yuan to the listed CIC in the course of bargaining transactions, involving the crimes of special breach of trust, unconventional transactions, and criminal law breach of trust under the Securities and Communications Law, and Cai Zhengyuan and his father-in-law were involved in the crimes of treachery, embezzlement and money laundering in the case of embezzlement of China Shadow's capital reduction.

The collegial panel of the North People's Court is composed of presiding judge Hu Zonggan, appointed judge Lin Xingyi, and accompanying judge Lin Chengqiao.

Based on evidence obtained from the Kuomintang Ministry such as numerous audio recordings of meetings and negotiation dialogues, the Beijing Inspection Bureau determined that Ma Ying-jeou, Zhang Zhechen, and Wang Haiqing had caused positive damage to CIC, including RMB494.3 million in the China Television Transaction Case, RMB1.82.31 million in the China Film Case, RMB1.552.7 million in the China Broadcasting Case, RMB597.12 million in the Old Central Party Department Building Case, with a total of MORE THAN 4.44644 million Yuan in positive losses, and rmb2.845.3 million in the unrealized losses on the share price receivables of the China Broadcasting Transaction. In total, it caused a total of more than 7,291.74 million yuan of damage to CIC.

During the debate, the prosecutor complained that Ma Ying-jeou was in the leading position in determining the transaction object and price in the whole case, but during the trial, he repeatedly claimed that he did not know the details of the transaction, and reserved high litigation fees to repeatedly find a lawyer before the trial to practice the excuse of avoiding the crime of litigation, abused the professional terminology of financial accounting during the trial to cover up his own criminal behavior, and had a bad attitude after committing the crime, and asked the court to impose a heavy sentence and confiscate the illegal gains.

Ma Ying-jeou replied that before and after he took office as party chairman in August 2005, he repeatedly publicly declared that he would deal with party property as soon as possible, and that CIC would have to withdraw from the period of operating radio and television media in order to comply with the radio and television law, and that after an internal team had assessed the pros and cons, he agreed to wrap up the sale of CIC's equity interest in Huaxia Company, a decision that was in line with the interests of the party and CIC, and questioned whether the prosecution had "unconventionally sued" him without finding out.

Zhang Zhechen replied that the indictment described them as bad people who had committed adultery and committed unforgivable evils, and he insisted that he had worked professionally for more than 40 years, adhered to his conscience, was honest and self-sustaining, and had committed no crimes; Wang Haiqing said that he had no intention of committing crimes and committed crimes, and as a professional manager, he did not violate his position to harm the interests of CIC and the Kuomintang, let alone sell party property, and asked the court to use the temporal and spatial background of 15 years ago to measure the rationality and legality of CIC's punishment of the Third Middle School and the building.

Ma's office has responded by stressing that Ma Ishiou is absolutely immune to public testing.
