Wang Shaoyu, a native of Shunhe, Yu'an District. In 1917, he entered the Lu'an County No. 5 Higher Primary School and began to be exposed to new cultural knowledge. After graduating from high school, he was admitted to Anqing Wanjiang Sports College. Due to the persecution of progressive young students by the Warlord Government of Beiyang in Anhui, in 1923 he went to Shanghai with fellow student Wang Liquan and was admitted to the Department of Sociology of Shanghai University. Here, his ideological consciousness was rapidly enhanced, and he soon joined the Chinese Socialist Youth League.
In the winter of 1924, Wang Shaoyu returned home during the winter vacation, and initiated and organized a youth promotion association in Lu'an City and progressive youth Zhou Fanwen and Hu Suming to recruit young students to study Marxism and seek revolutionary truth. After returning to school after the winter vacation, he was accepted as a member of the Communist Party of China by the Shanghai University Branch of the Communist Party of China.
In the winter of 1925, Wang Shaoyu was dispatched back to Lu'an by the Shanghai University Branch of the Communist Party of China, and successively contacted Wang Liquan, Wu Shuguang, Liu Damong, Tian Chonghou, Liu Shengcheng, Cai Yunshan, Mao Zhengchu, and other communist party members who had returned from Wuhu, Hangzhou, Shanghai, and other places, and established a special branch of the CPC Lu'an in Chengguan, which was directly under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee. Wang Shaoyu served as the secretary of the special branch.
Under the leadership of the special branch, Wang Shaoyu and others opened workers' night schools in urban shacks, enlightened the working class, united a large number of workers and intellectual youth, and recruited advanced elements into the party among the yellow smoke workers; opened a people's teacher training center in the Tujia Mansion, trained the backbone of the peasant movement, and secretly established a peasant association organization or a labor peasant association, thus laying the foundation for the later armed uprising of the peasants in Lu'an.
In July 1926, during the Northern Expedition of the National Revolutionary Army, Wang Shaoyu was sent by the party to Guangzhou to participate in the agricultural movement. Later, in Hankou, he was appointed as a member of the Standing Committee of the Preparatory Department of the Anhui Provincial Federation of Trade Unions.
On March 8, 1927, the Northern Expeditionary Army entered Anqing, and he was transferred to the preparatory committee of the Anhui Provincial Farmers' Association to assist Xue Zhuohan in leading the Anhui peasant movement. In May of that year, the Fourth National Labor Congress was held in Wuhan, and Wang Shaoyu was selected as a representative of Anhui to attend. After the July 15 counter-revolutionary coup, the white terror became more and more serious, and Wang Shaoyu was instructed by the party to leave Wuhan and go to Shanghai.
In August, the Provisional Committee of Anhui Province of the Communist Party of China was moved from Wuhan to Wuhu, and he was appointed as a member of the Anhui Provincial Provisional Committee of the Communist Party of China and director of the Provincial Relief Association, under the pseudonym Li Jingqing, and came to Wuhu with his wife Chen Wenqing (secretary of the Relief Association) to live in Building No. 5 of Pucaoyuan in Wuhu, and carried out revolutionary work as a cover for high-ranking intellectuals. At that time, there were many secret agents in Wuhu, and Wang Shaoyu put his personal safety at risk, contacted celebrities, rescued comrades persecuted by the Kuomintang, received, transferred and covered comrades in distress, helped them connect with the party organization, and put them back into combat positions.
In November 1927, Yin Kuan took over as the secretary of the Anhui Provincial Provisional Committee of the Communist Party of China, implemented the strategy of "Left" blind movement, organized flying rallies (assemblies and marches that could be quickly assembled and quickly dispersed) and armed insurrections, and completely exposed the party's secret organs and secret activities to the enemy's surveillance.
On January 26, 1928, the Wuhu Relief Society and other party secret organs were destroyed by the enemy, and Wang Shaoyu and most other Communist Party members were arrested. On January 31, Wang Shaoyu was escorted to an anqing prison in the provincial capital, where the Kuomintang formed a special court to torture him.
Undaunted by the danger, Wang Shaoyu solemnly denounced the Kuomintang's heinous crimes of betraying Sun Yat-sen's revolutionary ideas and slaughtering the revolutionary masses of workers and peasants and the Communists. After nearly two months of torture in prison, although Wang Shaoyu had no skin, he still had an iron bone and preferred to die. Because the enemy identified Wang Shaoyu as "the leader of the Communist Party in Anhui Province", the harm was extremely great, and the party organization failed to succeed despite many rescues. In early April, Wang Shaoyu was secretly killed by the enemy outside the East Gate of Anqing. He was 31 years old.
