The legend of Chun Shenjun in "Great Qin Fu", behind the "transfer of flowers and elder trees", is it a failure? Or is it unjust?

author:Bo Shi Tong today

Historian Xu Heng once said

"The Four Princes of the Warring States, the one who can be called, the only Chun Shen Er." To the three sons of Meng, Pingyuan, and Xinling, they are also vegetarians of the corpse position."

Xu Heng means that the so-called "Four Princes of the Warring States", Meng Yijun, Pingyuan Jun, and Xin Lingjun are all vain people, and only Chunshen Jun Huang Xie can be regarded as worthy of the name.

Indeed, although the four gentlemen of the Warring States are well known, not everyone is considered a "gentleman" in terms of their political achievements and personality, for example, The Xinling Jun Wei Wuji was addicted to wine in his later years, Zhao Sheng, the Prince of Pingyuan, had "Li Ling Zhi Dim" before the Battle of Changping, and even Meng Yijun was said to be a "chicken singing dog thief". So, is there anything to criticize about Chun Shenjun? The answer is yes, that is, he "transferred flowers and trees" and made his son the king of Chu.

Chun Shenjun, whose real name was Huang Xie, was a native of the Chu state, who was knowledgeable and good at debate, so he was used by King Xiang of Chu. There are two records in the "Records of History" that show Huang Xie's talent.

The first thing was that Huang Xie sent an envoy to the Qin state. In 272 BC, King Zhaoxiang of Qin sent the general Bai Qi to attack the State of Chu, and King Xiang of Chu was deeply aware of the crisis of the situation, and sent Huang Xie to the State of Qin to seek peace, and Huang Xie, with his own three inches of incorruptible tongue, told the King of Qin that Qin and Chu were all great powers, and if Qin and Chu fought a great war, they would lose both sides, and the other five countries could not ask for it, so it was better for Qin and Chu to form an alliance and jointly cut down the other five countries.

King Zhaoxiang of Qin was indeed moved by Huang Xie to stop attacking the State of Chu and send people to send generous gifts to the State of Chu, and from then on Qin and Chu formed an alliance.

The second thing is the return of the Yellow Break Protector. After the Qin-Chu alliance, the State of Qin asked the State of Chu to send Crown Prince Xiong to Xianyang as a hostage, and the King of Chu Sent Huang Xie to accompany the Prince into Qin, and Huang Xie and Crown Prince Xiong Stayed in the State of Qin for 10 years. In 263 BC, King Xiangxiang of Chu became seriously ill and sent someone to pick up Crown Prince Xiong to return to China, and King Zhaoxiang of Qin intended to detain Crown Prince Xiong. At the moment of emergency, Huang Xie found Fan Ju, the minister of the Qin state, and said to Fan Ju: Prince Xiong has been in the Qin state for 10 years, and now his father is seriously ill, and if he lets the prince return to China, he will definitely be grateful to the Qin state. If Prince Xiong is not let go at this time, the Chu State will set up another prince, and at that time, not only will the Chu State have a grudge against the Qin State, but also the Crown Prince Xiong Will also become a person who is useless to the Qin State.

In this way, after Chun Shenjun's plot, Crown Prince Xiong was able to return to the Chu state and inherit the throne, which was later king Chu Kao Lie.

Through these two historical facts, it can be seen that Huang Xie does have extraordinary ability, he is good at analyzing the situation, hiding his disadvantages, and using his advantages to impress the other side, which is unparalleled in debate.

However, even though Huang Xie was good at judging the hour and sizing up the situation, he still did a stupid thing. Because Huang Xie and King Chu Kao Lie suffered together in the Qin state, after taking the throne, he entrusted Huang Xie with a heavy responsibility, and let Huang Xianlai serve as the Ling Yin of the Chu State, and crowned Huang Xie as the Chunshen Jun.

Under the administration of Huang Xie, the chu state was thriving, and many scholars defected to the chu state because they admired the great name of Chun Shenjun, and Chun Shenjun Huang Xie became one of the "Warring States Gentlemen", and Chun Shenjun was the only one of the "Four Gentlemen of the Warring States" who did not have royal blood. Looking at the strength of the Chu kingdom, king Chu Kao Lie, while being happy, also had a regret, the "History" Yun:

King Chu Kaolie was childless, chunshen jun was troubled, and those who asked for a woman's good son entered it, and many people were childless.

That is to say, there were countless concubines in the harem of Chu Kaolie, but there was no man and a half woman, which made Chu Kao Lie very distressed.

As a good brother of King Chu Kao Lie, Chun Shen Jun Huang Xie helped him a "big favor", Chun Shen Jun gave his pregnant concubine to King Chu Kao Lie, this concubine later gave birth to a son, named Xiong Hun, was made a prince, and the concubine was also made queen. In fact, Xiong Hun is Huang Xie's flesh and bones. Chun Shenjun's trick of "transferring flowers and picking wood" and sending his son to the throne of the King of Chu seemed clever, but he became the biggest failure of his life. Because there is another important character in this story, this person is Li Yuan. Because the concubine that Chun Shenjun offered to the King of Chu was Li Yuan's sister.

It turned out that Li Yuan had planned to dedicate his sister to the King of Chu, but later because of the delay in the road, he failed to succeed. He could only sacrifice his sister to Chunshen Jun Huang Xie, and later learned that her sister was already pregnant with Huang Xie's flesh and bones, so he suggested to Huang Xie that he give his sister to the King of Chu by transferring flowers and trees. In this way, not only did it solve the troubles of the King of Chu, but also sent Huang Xie's children to the throne. Huang Xie was touched by Li Yuan's words and really had to do so. "History" Cloud:

Shen Jun is the daughter of Li Yuan, the king of Chu. The King of Chu summoned Xingzhi and gave birth to a son, who was made crown prince, with Li Yuan's younger brother as his queen.

Zhu Ying, a protégé of Chun Shenjun, advised him not to do so, and Zhu Ying said to Chun Shenjun: You have been the Lingyin of the Chu State for more than ten years, if King Chu Kao Lie dies, you can continue to assist the sons of other clans as kings, and in the Chu Kingdom you are equivalent to the Duke of Zhou. Now, you have sent your son to the King of Chu, which will inevitably bring you a senseless disaster. Moreover, Li Yuan is quite ambitious, and when it comes to that day, Li Yuan will definitely kill you in order to seize power.

Zhu Ying's words did not attract Chun Shenjun's attention. Later, King Chu Kaolie died of illness, and Chun Shenjun hurried into the palace, but unexpectedly, when entering the palace gate, he was killed by the assassins who were ambushed by Li Yuan, and Huang Xie's entire family was also killed by Li Yuan. Poor Chun Shenjun Huang Xie, as one of the "Four Princes of the Warring States", died in such a tragic way, how sad!

Is the story of Chun Shenjun's "flower transfer" true? In fact, through the historical data, this matter has another mystery, which may be false.

The legend of Chun Shenjun in "Great Qin Fu", behind the "transfer of flowers and elder trees", is it a failure? Or is it unjust?

The author believes that if Chunshen Jun Huang Xie wants to make a "flower transfer elderberry", he must meet three conditions:

First, King Chu kaolie must be childless.

Second, Li Yuan's sister must be inspected when she enters the palace;

Third, it is guaranteed that Li Yuan's sister is pregnant with a boy.

These three conditions must be met at the same time, if the King of Chu has a son, it is meaningless for Chun Shenjun to do this step; if Li Yuan's sister is found to be pregnant when she enters the Chu Palace, Chun Shenjun will not only fail in her achievements, but even risk being exterminated; if Li Yuan's sister gives birth to a girl, Chun Shenjun's move will be meaningless.

The legend of Chun Shenjun in "Great Qin Fu", behind the "transfer of flowers and elder trees", is it a failure? Or is it unjust?

Starting from the first article, the "Records of History" says that King Chu Kaolie had no children, and there were countless concubines in the harem, and they could not have children, which showed that King Chu Kaolie himself may not have children, of course, nor did he have sons. However, according to the "History of the Chu Family":

For ten years, the King of You, half-brother Judaili, was the King of Sorrows. In February, the King of Sorrows was established, and the disciples of the Brother of the King of Sorrow attacked and killed the King of Sorrow and established the King of Sorrow as king.

This means that after the death of King You of Chu (Xiong Hun), he was replaced by his half-brother Xiong You (King of Chu Lai), who was later killed by his brother-in-law (Negative Blade).

This sentence is very informative and can explain at least two major problems:

(i) King Chu Kao Lie was not infertile, he had at least 3 sons, and he was born of two different concubines.

(2) Queen Chu (Li Yuan's sister) gave birth to King Chu You, and also gave birth to King Chu, and if Chun Shenjun could give a concubine who was already pregnant to the King of Chu, it was understandable, then it would be more difficult for queen Chu to conceive and have a child again.

Therefore, king Chu Kao Lie is not infertile, and the first necessary condition mentioned above is overturned.

Let's talk about the second condition, although the ancient times were open, but before the concubine entered the palace, it must also undergo a strict test, if Chun Shenjun has determined that the concubine is pregnant, then if the concubine wants to pass the test, it is very difficult, after all, the level of the doctor in the Chu King's Palace will not be worse than that of the Chun Shen Jun's family.

Finally, speaking of the third condition, Chun Shenjun and Li Yuan must ensure that the concubine is pregnant with a boy in her belly, otherwise there is no point in doing so. However, under the medical conditions at that time, this was almost impossible; some people may say that some doctors in ancient times were very good and could determine the sex of the fetus through the pulse of the pregnant woman, however, since the concubine could deceive the king of Chu, it meant that the child's month must be very small, and if the fetal sex could be judged by diagnosing the pulse in this case, it must be a "divine doctor".

Therefore, in the case that the above three conditions cannot be met, it is said that Huang Xie made his son the future king of Chu by "transferring flowers and picking wood", which is actually full of loopholes.

In fact, the story of Huang Xie's "moving flowers and receiving trees" was first derived from the original manuscript of the "Warring States Policy", and the original draft of the "Warring States Policy" was not so much a history book as a historical story book, and Sima Qian referred to the original draft when compiling the "History of History", so this story appeared in the "History". However, even if it is the "History of History", there are many literary components, so Chun Shenjun may be a real "gentleman", not a person who moves flowers and trees.
