Luo Ergang (1901-1997), a native of Guicheng Town, Guixian County, Guangxi (Guigang City), is a famous historian, a master of the history of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, a hermenist, a scholar of the late Qing Dynasty, and a first-class researcher of the Institute of Modern History of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Chen Dansheng, born in 1945, originally from Nanning City, Guangxi Province, followed his parents to Guixian County in the 1950s to settle down, his father worked in the tax department, and his mother was a family of teachers for generations. Dansheng was the principal of Guicheng No. 2 Middle School, a classmate of the author's junior high school, and has a close friendship of more than half a century. In addition to teaching, he has been studying for decades, and his poetry, calligraphy and painting have made great progress.

Principal Dansheng is not a native of Guixian County, and he and Master Luo Ergang have never met, but they have had the opportunity to interact with each other several times, and the inside story is little known. Although it is not an earth-shattering event, it is worth recording it to add some historical and humanistic details.
1. The inscription donated by Mr. Xi
On July 18, 1990, Dan Sheng suddenly received a letter from Mei Lao (that is, mei Zhu Gong revolutionary predecessor, then deputy director of the guigang municipal cultural bureau at the county level and president of the municipal poetry society) to bring a letter, which contained a poem he wrote to Mr. Luo Ergang who was far away in Beijing, "Reading the "Sleepy Study Series", and asked Dan Sheng to write a calligraphy work and send it to Luo Lao. According to Luo Wenqi, Luo Lao's daughter, Luo Lao especially liked this poem.

Dan Sheng immediately promised and gladly ordered the pen. The next day, Mei Lao personally came to pick up the calligraphy work of the poem and then sent it to Beijing. About half a month later, Dansheng received a book mailed by Luo Lao from Beijing, entitled "Examination of the History of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom." On the title page of the book, Luo Laogong neatly wrote half a page of text.

It reads: "Meng Dabi gave (Mei) Zhu Gong's masterpiece "Reading Sleepy Studies Series of Works", and I am very grateful. Wu Gui (County) is known for its good books, including Chen Lusheng and Li Shuqiao, and the present gong will be comparable to the former sages. Respectfully give a book of humble works to impress and ask for advice!" After Luo Lao signed it, he also wrote the year, month and day. The exchange of courtesies and the character of the master can be seen.
Second, meticulous, twice letters
In 1993, President Dansheng was elected as the first chairman of the county-level Guigang Hard Pen Book Association, and in the same year, he was added as a member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Federation of Literature and Literature. After the establishment of the Hard Pen Book Association, it is planned to carry out a large-scale activity, which was later named "Wing King Cup" National Hard Pen Calligraphy Exhibition.
Yi Wang is the outstanding general of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, Shi Dakai, a native of Guigang. In order to increase the popularity of Guigang, Principal Dansheng thought of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom historiography and studied TaiDouluo, and sincerely hired him as a consultant for the book fair, so he wrote to Luo Lao.

For the mistake of a word, he actually ordered his daughter Qianli to write a letter to correct and apologize, which shows the meticulous rigor of Luo Laozhi's attitude toward learning, and also reflects his virtues of humility and humility.
Third, Luo Lao's inscription for "Dakai High School"
One day in March 1997, Yang Liufeng, the principal of Dakai High School, came to Beijing and proposed to ask Luo Lao to write the name of the school. At this time, the 97-year-old Luo Lao was already lying in bed, and his breath was very weak.
Yang Liu greeted for a moment, helplessly explaining his intentions, and Wen Qi, the daughter who was serving Luo Lao, said: "My father has become so ill, I am afraid it will be difficult to obey his fate, do you see if you can find out the four words of Dakai High School in the handwriting of his works, and go back to use the computer to deal with it, can you?"
After Hearing this on the bed, Elder Luo said very unhappily, "No, no, no, the people in my hometown have traveled thousands of miles to come here, just to use the words I wrote by my own hand, and you will help me up quickly!"
Wen Qi's persuasion was ineffective many times, so he had to obey his father's orders, called a few family members, and slowly lifted Elder Luo up with difficulty, and prepared pen and ink rice paper, And Elder Luo laboriously wrote down the words "Dakai High School Luo Er gang honorific question", and then solemnly handed it to Yang Liu, who thanked him with tears in his eyes.
Two months later, at 17:50 on May 25, the sky turned and the master passed away.

Soon after Yang Liu returned to Guigang City, he took Luo Lao's character to Guicheng No. 2 Middle School, found Principal Dansheng, and after explaining the situation in Beijing, he said to him in a consultative tone: "Luo Lao's ink treasure is indeed precious, and it adds a lot of brilliance to our school, but you see such a word, the writing is crooked and oblique, and I am afraid that I will lose the face of his old man when I hang it up, can you see if you can help him revise it a little?"

Dan Sheng said, "Let me try it, but Luo Lao's characters must remain as they are, that is, the knot of the words must not be changed, and once they are changed, they will not be Luo Lao's words." I can only change the stroke slightly, the crooked correction, the curved straightening, the too young stroke slightly thicker. Yang Liu agreed with Dansheng's opinion.

Two days later, Dan Sheng showed Yang Liu the revised manuscript, and Principal Yang was quite satisfied. For the sake of prudence, he made a second revision, and finally the final draft was engraved into the stele and hung on the school door.
At the last moment of his life, Elder Luo did his best to do a good and practical thing for his hometown, his character was very noble, and his spirit was precious. Elder Luo, rest in peace! The people of your hometown will always miss you.

Fourth, the interaction between Elder Luo and the author's ancestors
Coincidentally, the author's ancestors were two generations old, and they had a lifelong friendship with Mr. Luo Ergang. After the Kuomintang reactionaries betrayed the revolution in 1927, the provincial government ordered More than 50 people, including Chen Mianshu, a member of the Communist Party of China in Guixian County, and Luo Runting ,Luo Runting (Note: Luo Ergang's father) and Liang Wufeng, a member of the Bingyin Society. The author's grandfather Shen Yuqing was the county magistrate of Guixian County at the time, and after receiving the solid news, he immediately tried to secretly inform everyone to flee and avoid the scourge, and retained a group of revolutionary elites in Guixian County. Years later, the memoirs written by Luo's daughter Wen Qi and the correspondence between Mr. Luo Ergang and the author's father can be corroborated.
