4K commemorative edition of "Tianshu Qitan" fixed file The egg student who chased the light returned with "Chinese wisdom"

"Heaven and earth are selfless, and there is wisdom and light", and the smart and lovely egg students have returned with "Chinese wisdom". Shanghai Fine Arts Film Studio recently announced that the classic animation "Tianshu Qitan" has completed 4K ultra-high-definition picture restoration and sound restoration, and its 4K commemorative version is officially scheduled for release in theaters nationwide on November 5. This film, which has the reputation of "the master of China's excellent traditional culture", will regain its glory in the new era.

Ishikawa, vice chairman of the Shanghai Filmmakers Association, told reporters that the scientific restoration and release of "Tianshu Qitan" can enable audiences of different generations to obtain common cultural experience and imagination, bridge the intergenerational gap, and realize cultural inheritance.

Taking national art as the root of creation, it has created representative works of Chinese animation schools

On the picture full of the charm of Chinese landscape painting, Egg Sheng runs to the sky with open arms to chase light and hope, and Yuan Gong behind him solemnly sends him off - this is the final poster recently released by the 4K commemorative edition of "Tianshu Qitan". Combined with the meaning of the movie "Heaven and Earth Are Selfless, With Wisdom and Light", this poster expresses the inheritance and endless survival of the fire of human faith, highlighting the atmosphere and elegance of Chinese culture. In fact, it is precisely adhering to the purpose of "establishing the newness of the nation and marking the differences of the nation" that "Tianshu Qitan" has become one of the representative works of the Chinese animation school.

"Tianshu Qitan" is adapted from China's first long-form divine and demonic novel "The Legend of Ping Demon", retaining the image of the three foxes in the novel, and changing the egg monk in the novel to a juvenile egg. The film tells the story of Yuan Gong in the Heavenly Palace who passed on the Book of Heaven to the world and taught the egg students spells to benefit the people, and some of the bridges can be found from Chinese folk tales. Since its birth in 1983, "Tianshu Qitan" has been on a par with the classic animation feature films of the American Film Studio, "The Great Haunting of the Heavenly Palace" and "Nezha Noisy Sea", representing the peak level of domestic animation films.

"How fun, how to play, how to play to the extreme." This was the request made by Te Wei, the director of the Us Film Studio at the time, for the creation of "Heavenly Book". Under this inspiration, the general directors Wang Shuchen, Qian Yunda, the styling design Ke Ming, the composer Wu Yingju, the voice actor Ding Jianhua, Bi Ke, Su Xiu, Cheng Xiaohua, Shi Rong, Cao Lei, Shang Hua and other artists and predecessors began a creative journey focusing on strangeness, fun and beauty. The film draws on the traditional Chinese culture of paintings, sculptures, toys, opera and other artistic elements, bringing together many folk imagery, such as the use of a large number of traditional folk music as background music, the little emperor marveled at the "birds and phoenix", stilts, dragon and lion dances and other folk activities, can be described as a "folk garden"; the shape of the three foxes borrows from the opera face, which is unforgettable; the garden, palace, and landscape in the film follow the "Wumen Painting School" style, drawing the cultural landscape with heavy colors with the pen, and drawing the natural landscape with light and elegant ink.

The animation is carefully restored with ingenuity and science to meet the standards of contemporary cinema viewing

According to Mr. Qian Yunda, who is more than 90 years old, in order to draw the mouth shape of the corresponding character in "Tianshu Qitan", the painters used the stopwatch to determine the time required for the line, working overtime day and night for three years. 38 years ago, the older generation of artists created classics with such ingenuity. Today, 38 years later, in order to meet the contemporary big-screen viewing standards, the 4K commemorative edition of "Tianshu Qitan" has undergone a scientific and meticulous overall restoration and digitization process.

Shanghai Fine Arts Film Studio and Shanghai Film Technology Factory first sort out the original bottom, clean it through ultrasonic washing, and then scan it to the hard disk, and then enter the color correction, frame-by-frame repair, sound scanning and restoration stage, and finally complete the basic restoration by sound and picture synthesis. The follow-up 4K restoration was carried out by Migu Company, a subsidiary of China Mobile, and the restoration team followed the principle of "repairing the old as old" to de-denoising, de-scratching, color enhancement, super-resolution and other processing of the film, while improving the clarity of the film, while retaining the brushstrokes and graininess of the original animation to the greatest extent.

The sound restoration process is equally delicate and tedious. The restorer used modern separation techniques to separate the dialogue, music and sound effects from the mono mastering and sought to restore the original sound effect of the film. This needs to follow the original special timbre of the film, so as not to interfere with the audience's emotional and chronological memory of the sound and picture; the use of 1980s analog harmonizers makes the soundtrack sound consistent with the original. The sound material after successful separation into surround sound is unfolded through the effects, so that the soundstage sound effect finally reaches the 5.1 channel effect of contemporary cinema viewing.

Today, the global film industry has entered an all-digital era, and film films will be damaged over the years, and almost all countries will repair and digitize old film. Some scholars believe that the restoration and re-release of classics such as "Tianshu Qitan" not only protects the film heritage, but also makes its artistic value discovered by more current audiences, which is conducive to the spread of Chinese stories.
