On the same day, a series of activities to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the reconstruction of the New Fourth Army were held in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province. Zhang Aijun, member of the Standing Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial CPC Committee and director of the Propaganda Department, Zhu Wenquan, former commander of the Nanjing Military Region, representatives of the relatives of veteran soldiers and comrades of the New Fourth Army, relevant responsible persons and specially invited experts of the China New Fourth Army Research Association, and special guests of the New Fourth Army Memorial Venue and other commemorative venues attended the event.

In January 1941, after the outbreak of the Anhui Incident, the Party Central Committee turned the tide and rebuilt the New Fourth Army Headquarters in Yancheng, northern Jiangsu. In May of the same year, the Central China Bureau of the CPC Central Committee was established to unify the leadership of the party, government, military, and civilian work in the areas of armed struggle behind enemy lines in the anti-Japanese base areas of central China. During the beacon years, the New Fourth Army, with its iron faith, iron responsibility, iron style, and iron discipline, wrote a brilliant chapter of national liberation and salvation and survival.

At the commemorative meeting, Hong Hu, deputy commander of the 3rd Division of the New Fourth Army and son of Hong Xuezhi, the first commander of the Yanfu Military Region, spoke on behalf of the veteran soldiers and relatives of veteran comrades of the New Fourth Army, saying: The rebuilding of the New Fourth Army headquarters in Yancheng is a turning point in the regeneration of the New Fourth Army, a milestone in the reversal of the anti-Japanese situation in central China under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, an important factor in the continuous development and growth of the New Fourth Army, and a major event of great significance in the history of our revolution.
