Chen Boda is a person who is known to people of all ages, especially in the 1950s and 1960s, and his name was almost all over the media and newspapers.

1970 was a turning point in his life, when Chen Boda was placed under house arrest, that is, from this year on, the three words "Chen Boda" disappeared almost overnight.

Among the secretaries of many great people, Chen Boda is the one who has followed the longest time, and after the founding of the People's Republic of China, he even ranked in the position of "the fourth person", which can be described as prominent.

In 1970, due to the wrong direction, Chen Boda, as a pen holder, emerged and let his career come to an end.

That year, he was placed under house arrest at home in Beijing, then transferred to prison and began a decade-long life as a prisoner.

It was not until the end of 1980, after a public trial, that in January of the following year he was sentenced to eighteen years in prison by the Special Court.

However, his sentence began on the day he was detained in 1970, so by the time the verdict came out, Chen Boda had already served ten years in prison, with the remaining eight years in prison.

In August 1981, Chen Boda was granted medical parole to serve the remainder of his sentence outside the prison.

After his release from prison, he was placed in the eastern suburbs of Beijing, where there was a house that had not been built for a long time, and the Chen family lived on the sixth floor, which was also on the top floor.

The house given to him was a small three-bedroom apartment, and when he was released from prison, all three ex-wives were still alive. It's just that they are all living in different cities.

The relationship between these three ex-wives and Chen Boda is not very good, so after Chen Boda was released from prison, none of them were willing to take care of him and live with him.

Chen Boda's three sons, the eldest son Chen Xiaoda, returned to China from the Soviet Union in the early years, because of the unhappiness of life and feelings, he died on the track.

The other youngest son had some mental problems, and only Chen Xiaonong was left.

Chen Xiaonong, the son of Chen Boda and his second wife, Yu Wenfei, has been living in Shijiazhuang and taking care of his mother.

Organizationally, he was transferred to Beijing, where he was rearranged to take care of Chen Boda's life.

His wife Zhang Lanhua also came with her younger son, and in order to facilitate the care of the old and young in the family, Zhang Lanhua simply handled the suspension of salary and retention.

Although Chen Boda also had a living allowance of two hundred yuan per month after his release from prison, the family's expenses basically depended on Chen Xiaonong's salary, so his life was still a bit difficult.

Sometimes, Chen Boda wants to eat some fresh fruits, but he is reluctant to buy them to eat.

Supposedly, he had two hundred yuan a month for living expenses, and in the eighties, two hundred yuan was not a small amount, and it was no problem to feed the family.

So, where did Chen Boda's living expenses go?

Mainly used by him to buy books, before the accident, Chen Boda's personal book collection was comparable to a small library, and he collected more than 60,000 books.

He was living in a courtyard in Beijing, and he used two whole houses to hold his more than 60,000 books. There is another side room, which is specially set aside to collect the more precious thread-bound books in ancient times, so that his personal book collection is more than 60,000 volumes.

Later, Chen Boda asked whether he could return some of his books, but they were separated by ten years, and most of those books were lost.

In the sixth year of his death, more than 1,200 copies were recovered and returned to Chen Xiaonong.

After his release from prison, he was also keen on collecting books, spending at least forty yuan a month to buy books.

In his later years, he began to be keen to read some foreign literary masterpieces, such as Tolstoy and Kafka, and sometimes he was short of money and entrusted Chen Xiaonong to buy them on his behalf.

When he was first released from prison, someone from the Public Security Bureau would come to the door every month, after all, he was still serving his sentence.

Every time he came to the door, according to the custom, he would ask some basic information and ask him if he had any other needs in life.

In fact, Chen Boda wants some extra expenses to buy some fresh fruits to eat. But he was not good at speaking, first, he felt that he was still wearing a body of sin and was not qualified to make demands; second, he had already given him two hundred yuan a month, and he was embarrassed to ask for money again.

However, Chen Boda still can't resist the temptation from the fruit, the number of inquiries is more, Chen Boda carefully opened his mouth, saying that he wants to eat some fresh fruit, but there is no extra money to buy, can you give some of the cost of buying fruit.

When the staff first heard this, they were also a little confused, after all, they gave him two hundred yuan a month, and it was reasonable to say that buying some fruit was more than enough.

So, when he asked him about his expenses, Chen Boda replied truthfully, saying that he had used it to buy books.

After the door-to-door staff returned, they reported Chen Boda's appeal; after investigation, it was found that what he said was indeed the actual situation, so he was given an extra fifty yuan every month, specifically for buying fruit to eat.

Chen Boda's ability to go all the way to the top with a pen is indeed great; but most of the literati lack political wisdom.

Therefore, in my opinion, the entry of literati in politics is often a tragic stage.

Fortunately, Chen Boda's last life is also relatively perfect, living with his family, he can also enjoy the joy of heaven, but also happiness.
