Di Renjie's tomb is located next to the White Horse Temple (now enclosed in the White Horse Temple) twelve kilometers east of Luoyang City, and is a circular mound. In front of the tomb, there are two sides of the stele stone, and the larger stone side reads "There is Tang Zhongchen Di Liang Cemetery" eight characters.
Talking about Di Renjie, many friends first thought of his iron-faced selfless handling style and mysterious detective process, but few people knew the story of Di Renjie who sat still in the face of a beautiful woman who fell into the country.
So, how did Di Renjie get through the "Beauty Pass"?
As the saying goes, "three years old to see the old", the teenager Di Renjie has emerged, he is not only talented, but also far more determined than his peers. When Di Renjie was young, he went to Beijing to take the exam and stayed in a small inn. That night, Di Renjie was reading by candlelight when he suddenly heard a knock at the door. It turned out that the beautiful lady of the inn owner visited late at night and wanted to meet Di Renjie.
This boss lady has not been widowed for a long time, empty and lonely, and Di Renjie, who saw a table of talents during the day, came to the door to board, felt that this young man was gentle and elegant, and could not help but love him, and wanted to take advantage of the night to be close to him. Di Renjie politely invited the lady boss to the house and listened to her pour out her admiration, and then Di Renjie said softly:
"A beautiful woman like you, in the middle of the night, said these things to me, and I was really moved. However, in the early years, an old monk taught me, and I took his words to heart, so the more this happened, the more I had to strictly observe etiquette and not trespass. ”
The lady boss felt very curious and asked Di Renjie what the old monk had said that could allow him to control himself in this situation.
Di Renjie replied:
"The old monk said, judging from my appearance, I will definitely stand out in the future. However, I must bear in mind the principle of 'abstinence in color'. Since the old monk had already given the teachings, how could I go beyond the ritual law and exchange my life's future for a moment's speed? At that time, I was still very ignorant, so I asked the old monk and said: 'Teacher Father, the so-called hero is sad to be beautiful, and it is the common feeling of people to like beauty, and when beauty comes, people will always leave the consequences behind.' Almost everyone has this idea, that is, the next not to take it for example. Every next time, people will involuntarily have such thoughts, and eventually fall into beauty and cannot extricate themselves. Is there any good way to extinguish the fire of desire and cut off lust from the root? The old monk taught me three ways to cut off my desires at a critical moment. ”
The lady boss continued to ask: So which three ways?
Di Renjie said:
The first way is to treat all the women around you as relatives, those who are older than themselves as elders; those who are similar to their own age as sisters; those who are younger than themselves as daughters.
The second way is to treat all the women who arouse my desires as shameless people who seduce me to break the vows, and this person is a cloaked beast, a poisonous snake and a scorpion, which will erode my heart and make me fall into a situation of no return.
The third way is to think of all beautiful women as muscles and bones wrapped in skin sacs, and the inside of each beautiful skin sac is pus, blood and feces, like a vase full of garbage. No matter how beautiful women are, the outflow of the seven tricks is still filthy excrement, and when they are sick, they will also have yellow muscles and thin hair, and when they die, they will also have dark skin wrinkles, and when they die, they will be crawling with maggots. To put it bluntly, man himself is just a skeleton with flesh, and beauty and ugliness are just a matter of thought.
After saying the truth taught by the old monk, Di Renjie continued to persuade the boss lady:
"When I saw your appearance, all I thought was that you were just a red pink skeleton, wrapped in lean and fat flesh on the outside of the skeleton. When I think about it, I don't have any lust at all. Madame might as well look at me again, isn't it just as fishy and rotten? If my face were covered with snot and saliva now, and my eyes were hanging from my eyes, would you still have thoughts about me? ”
When the lady boss heard this, she pondered for a long time, and then knelt down and said to Di Renjie:
"Thanks to mr. Advice and advice, I was able to preserve my chastity and teach me how to extinguish the fire of desire in my heart in the future. Now I understand that all human behavior lies in a single thought. In the future, I will definitely save my dead husband's honor. ”
Later, the boss lady really kept the festival for her husband for life, and also received a commendation from the imperial court.
Di Renjie's thinking is extremely wise, he does not covet a moment and a half of pleasure, give up his great prospects. Di Renjie can do what ordinary people can't do, and can control his mental activities. Just as the so-called "human nature is inherently evil", Di Renjie's upright and clear character is by no means innate. Like all sentient beings, he has innate desires. However, it was precisely because Di Renjie was able to suppress the evil thoughts in his heart that he could cultivate excellent character.
It can be said that the reason why Di Renjie was able to succeed was definitely not due to fate. Di Renjie studied hard all his life and was strict with himself, and after Dengke, he successively served as Dali Cheng, Henan Inspector, and Yuzhou Assassin History, becoming a very popular elder of the Three Dynasties.
From Di Renjie, the most precious quality we can learn is "restraint".
Di Village is the hometown of Di Renjie, in the southern suburbs of the old town of Taiyuan City (near the Jiannan Bus Station), next to the village, there is a locust tree planted by Di Mu's hand, called Tang Huai, and there is a stone stele of "Di Liang Gong's Hometown". Di Gong Ancestral Hall is located in the west of Yaojia Village, Huangling Township, Pengze County, Jiangxi, and was originally a prison at the north gate of Tangjiu County Street. According to the Pengze County Chronicle, during Di Renjie's tenure as PengZeling, the prisoners were exonerated from the death penalty, and the prisoners were built into small hills with soil on the side of the prison, called "vertical prison piers", and later people built Di Gong Ancestral Hall on the vertical prison piers.
