The ice couple, who have been "holding hands" since the age of 14, have participated in nearly 100 world championships, 16 world championships (2 championships, 13 top 5) and 4 Olympic Games in their sports careers, creating a legend in the history of figure skating.
After retiring in 2015, Pang Qing/Tong Jian is still promoting figure skating in various forms. The two have several positions, not only serving as the head coach of the national figure skating blue team, but also opening their own ice art center, while also participating in various figure skating commercial performances and CCTV commentary work. To say that our protagonist Tong Jian today and his gold medal partner, that is, the fate of his wife Pang Qing, it goes back to the "distant" 1993, when both were only 14 years old. Unlike most people who think that figure skating pairings are assigned by coaches, choosing Pang Qing is Tong Jian's own decision. Talking about the situation at that time, Tong Jian recalled with a smile:
At that time, I had two female athletes to choose from, and I didn't know how to choose Pang Qing, it may be that the DNA in our bones is more similar, can attract each other, and Pang Qing looks more beautiful, especially in line with my aesthetics.

As we all know, as a pair skater, the cooperation between the two is crucial in the usual training and competition, and it is not easy to cooperate for more than 20 consecutive years. Tong Jian said frankly:
With Pang Qing for so many years, we also had training to quarrel very badly, there were countless times to think about breaking up the gang, and even after establishing a romantic relationship, we even thought about saying that it was not slippery, and this emotion gradually disappeared until later when we had children. In fact, we rarely argue in life, and most of the contradictions and emotions in the past appear on the ice rink.

At the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, the two of them who had passed the age of independence did not play well in the short program, and in the free skating, they interpreted a song "Chasing Dreams Without Regrets" to the extreme, winning the highest score of 141.81 points in the history of free skating at that time, and finally won a valuable silver medal.
At the same time, the relationship between the two also broke the window paper after that, and finally came together after 16 years from the first "holding hands". In 2014, Tong Jian and Pang Qing, who had successfully proposed marriage, performed a wonderful song "I Had a Dream" again at the Sochi Winter Olympics, which also laid the image of the ice fans of the two figure skating "dream lovers".

After the 2015 Shanghai Figure Skating World Championships, Pang Qing/Tong Jian retired. Talking about his entire career as an athlete, Tong Jian concluded:
I have no regrets, but if I had to say it, it was why I couldn't participate in the Fifth and Sixth Olympic Games.

In 2016, Pang Qing/Tong Jian officially married and now has two very cute sons. But unlike many other sports players, the couple is still active on the international commercial figure skating scene. Tong Jian introduced:
I now maintain a solo ice training twice a week, and then skate three times a week with Pang Qing, while also taking into account some teaching and my own dance training. The number of commercial performances in foreign countries will be controlled at about 15 times a year, and we have done more than 20 performances in China last year, and if there is a fixed venue in the next year, we want to double this number. In fact, there are still professional figure skaters.

In addition, Pang Qing/Tong Jian has established two own ice art centers in Beijing after years of hard work by drawing on foreign advanced figure skating training concepts and combining their own years of experience in the industry, with slightly different emphases. Tong Jian introduced:
One of them is mainly based on sports life and training, through this training method, we hope to cultivate professional players in the future, help them through the learning of their strengths, can have a better academic promotion path. After all, if there is no consideration for promotion, the future development of these players will face very big challenges. Another west-side center where we mainly focus on figure skating into the campus. Usually, the school will give children normal cultural education in the morning during the day, and receive professional ice skills training at our center in the afternoon. I hope that in the future, I can also get rid of ice and snow stars on campus, carry the heavy responsibility of the system, and provide a steady stream of talent support for the country.

As a top athlete in their respective fields, one of the things that impressed me very much about this program is that Tong Jian said that the biggest regret of his sports career was not that he did not win the gold medal in the Winter Olympics, but because he could not continue to play for the fifth and sixth time due to age and injury. I especially feel the same way about that. In my own experience, at the Rio Olympics, even though the results seemed to end in failure, I still wanted to continue to compete, as if there was always such a vision guiding me.
The reason is that I think that for athletes, performance as a benchmark for measuring the level of competition is very important, and athletes who do not want to get good results must not be good athletes, but this is by no means the whole story. What really motivates us to persevere in the long run is the love of the project itself, not the medals and certificates. As spectators, it is more about seeing our short moments on the field, the joy of getting results, or the frustration of playing poorly, but only we can truly experience the training and competition process of every second and every second. It should be said that we are more through sports to continuously surpass ourselves and create more value for life.
This also explains why even after withdrawing from the Olympic arena now, Pang Qing/Tong Jian can still skate on the professional figure skating stage to play another wonderful role. I believe that the figure skating career of this pair of ice masters will be the same as the classic songs they performed, chasing dreams and having no regrets in this life.

Tong Jian was born in 1979 in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. He began to learn to skate at the age of 6, and at the age of 14, he began to partner with Pang Qing in pair skating and studied under the famous coach Yao Bin. The Pang Qing/Tong Jian duo won the World Figure Skating Championships twice in 2006 and 2010. In addition, the duo competed in four consecutive Olympic games from the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics and won the silver medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. In 2015, Pang Qing/Tong Jian ended their figure skating careers with a bronze medal at the World Championships.
