Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly plans to sign another right-back during the January transfer window to challenge Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Wan-Bissaka started the 2021-22 season with a mediocre start. According to media reports, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to bring more competition to the Britons, rather than replace him. The Manchester United manager has yet to win a trophy while being manager at the club and he wants at least two reliable options in each position.

The Red Devils are looking for a full-back and a defensive midfielder in the summer market. However, united have not taken any action after signing Raphael Varane, Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Wan-Bissaka was recently suspended by UEFA for two games after tackling Swiss club youth team Christopher Martins Pereira in the Champions League. In an interview with United's official website, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed that the club will appeal the suspension of Wan-Bissaka.

With a two-day ban, Vien-Bissaka missed the Red Devils' most recent Champions League match against Villarreal, which the hosts won after Ronaldo's extra-time win.

The England right-back rose to prominence in his youth at Crystal Palace and made his debut at Selhurst Park in 2017-18. After two seasons at Crystal Palace, Wan-Bissaka was signed by Manchester United for $61 million. The England defender has spent his third season at Old Trafford and has made more than 100 appearances for the Red Devils.

If the Red Devils decide to sign a right-back in the winter market, United's scouts are asked to look beyond Trippier. Rangers captain James Tavernier and his teenage teammate Nathan Patterson are both on the Red Devils' target list. Both players played a major role in Steven Gerrard's championship-winning season
