Defendant Qin Weidong, male, born on November 22, 1963 in Linquan County, Anhui Province, Han ethnicity, college education, successively served as deputy secretary of the party committee, deputy mayor, mayor and party secretary of Wadian Town, Linquan County, and was a member of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Linquan County from April 2019 to the time of the case.
After trial, it was ascertained that between 2012 and 2019, defendant Qin Weidong took advantage of his position as deputy secretary of the party committee, mayor of Wadian Town, Linquan County, secretary of the party committee, and member of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Linquan County, and repeatedly accepted property worth 965128 yuan from Wei, Han, Hong, Chen, Wu, and others, seeking benefits for the above-mentioned personnel in undertaking projects, allocating project funds, and developing small property rights.
The court held that defendant Qin Weidong, as a state functionary, took advantage of his position to seek benefits for others, and accepted property from others totaling 965128 yuan, a huge amount, and his conduct constituted the crime of accepting bribes. The court supported and adopted the public prosecution and defense opinions of the public prosecutor and defender that the defendant Qin Weidong had confessed the circumstances, voluntarily admitted guilt and accepted punishment, and withdrew some of the stolen funds involved in the case, which were consistent with the facts ascertained, and gave Qin Weidong a lenient punishment in accordance with law.
