In Xichang, small grapes have become a big industry. In 2020, the planting scale of Xichang City is 100,000 mu, the output is 250,000 tons, the output value is 3 billion yuan, and the average household income is 100,000 yuan, and the grape industry has become one of the pillar industries of local rural revitalization.
According to local conditions, help farmers increase their income
Xichang has unique light and heat resources, suitable for the growth of late-ripening grapes, and the grapes and fruits produced are moderate, the flesh is hard and crisp, and the flavor is strong and sweet, which is welcomed by the market.
In recent years, in order to further expand and strengthen the grape industry, the Xichang Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government have successively formulated relevant policies to promote the sustainable and healthy development of the grape industry. In 2019, Xichang Grape Industry Park was included in the Sichuan Provincial Modern Agricultural Park Cultivation Project.
"In the industrial park, not only did I learn the technique of viticulture, but my parents also learned." Wang Pan said that in the past, their village mainly grew rice, but now many people have escaped poverty and increased their income because of growing grapes.
Wang Pan calculated an account, their family planted six or seven acres of grapes, the yield reached 6,000 pounds per mu, the purchase price reached 7 yuan a catty, the highest 10 yuan a catty. Calculated, the net profit of one mu of land is more than 20,000 yuan, and it can earn more than 100,000 yuan a year. "I didn't dare to think about it before!" Wang Pan said.

How to ensure the sales of grapes when they are planted?
"Through various models such as 'company + farmer' and 'company + cooperative + farmer', we guide farmers to take shares in production factors such as land contract management rights and labor." Liu Bangfeng, head of Xichang Tongsheng Agriculture, introduced that in order to maximize the protection of the interests of farmers, the company signed a purchase agreement with the growers, and when the price of grapes is low, the company will purchase grapes at a guaranteed reserve price for brewing fresh food wine to ensure that the income of farmers is not reduced.
In addition to grape planting, many enterprises in Xichang are also actively exploring the upstream and downstream industries of grapes. Xichang Tongsheng Agriculture cooperated with a French winemaking team to develop two market-popular table grape ciders, "rosé" and "sweet white". At present, Xichang Tongsheng Agriculture consumes 200 tons of fresh table grapes a year, produces 100 tons of wine, and achieves an output value of more than 17 million yuan. Liu Bangfeng said that it will strive to build 4 more wine production lines within 5 years, consume 20,000 tons of fresh table grapes and produce 10,000 tons of wine per year.
At present, Xichang is focusing on promoting the construction of a "3+ 2" industrial system, promoting the integration and development of the whole industrial chain of the three dominant industries of grapes, vegetables and flowers, and strengthening the two key industries with corn seed production and olive oil.
Science and technology empower the development of modern agriculture

In mid-June, the Panxinong Specialties Smart Operation Center opened in Xichang. Since then, buyers only need to complete the goods viewing, placing orders and bookings in the transaction display center. At the same time, the center also provides packaging, logistics and other services to farmers, and the "one-stop" two-way service is quite efficient.
Li Zhongwen, general manager of Xichang Agricultural Investment, introduced that the Panxinong Specialty Smart Operation Center covers an area of 150 acres, with the help of intelligent services and a strong traceability system, closely connecting the production and marketing of Xichang agricultural products, so that agricultural products can sell farther and better.
"The empowerment of science and technology has made traditional agriculture more attractive, and the upgrading of science and technology has driven the improvement of industrial quality."
