The 87-year-old Cheng Ming crossed the Yalu River on March 21, 1951, and participated in the defense of Kaesong.
Cheng Ming said that he was still a small teenager at that time, when the defense of Kaesong was in the middle of a stalemate, and the 34th Division of the 12th Army, to which he belonged, received an order to join the battle immediately. At that time, there was still a certain distance from the battlefield, and the troops had to rush through the night, along the way, the elderly veterans comforted everyone and did not fear, "We really went with the belief that we must die, and no one had any fear of artillery fire." ”
Cheng Ming said that after the defense of Kaesong, the troops entered the river valley for repairs, and when they were repairing, they received news that the Battle of Shangganling had started, and in this way, the 34th Division of the 12th Army he belonged to participated in five battles, and after 43 days of bloody battles in the Battle of Shangganling, Cheng Ming's regiment and another combat regiment originally had a total of more than 3,000 people, and in the end only 71 people were left.

Some soldiers were sleepy and wanted to smoke a cigarette, but when there was no smoke, they wrapped them in leaves and smoked them as cigarettes, and it was hard to get an apple that was harder than a stone.
In November 1953, Wu Ruhui and his comrades returned to China, and after withdrawing, the troops went to Yangfang, Beijing, for tank training, and were demobilized to the automobile transportation company in 1958.
The elderly Wu Ruhui told reporters that in this life, the Korean battlefield has had a great impact on himself, "The most memorable thing in this life is the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, and what I am most proud of is that I became a volunteer army." ”
