The Shenzhou 12 astronauts are in good physical and mental condition and are about to enter the recuperation and recovery stage

At a press conference in the afternoon, Lin Xiqiang, deputy director of the China Manned Space Engineering Office, said that Shenzhou 12 was launched into orbit on June 17 this year. During the mission, the astronaut crew established the working and living environment of the space station, managed and cared for the space station, implemented two out-of-the-cabin activities, carried out space science experiments and technology experiments, carried out the interaction between science and earth in the field of science education, completed the 3-month orbital residency, and returned to the ground safely on September 17.

Lin Xiqiang said that the Shenzhou 12 mission has created a number of "firsts": first, The first time Chinese astronauts have entered the Chinese space station; second, the first time to achieve a long-term stay of astronauts for 3 months; third, the first time to achieve manned autonomous rapid rendezvous and docking. The rendezvous and docking time was shortened from 2 days to 6.5 hours; fourth, the astronauts used the robotic arm to implement extravehicular operations for the first time; fifth, the first time that the regenerative environmental control and life protection technology was comprehensively and systematically verified in orbit; sixth, the dynamic management of materials in orbit was realized for the first time; seventh, it was the first time that three aircraft combinations were flown; eighth, for the first time, manned spacecraft and manned rockets were implemented on standby at the launch site, and the "rolling backup" strategy was verified; ninth, the Dongfeng landing site performed the astronaut search and rescue and recovery mission for the first time; and tenth, the operation planning center. For the first time, six support centers, including the Astronaut Support Center and the Spacecraft On-Orbit Support Center, have realized the "centralized + distributed" flight control support model under long-term manned conditions.

Through the implementation of the mission, the astronaut crew and the engineering systems have gained valuable experience, laying a solid foundation for the construction and operation of the space station. During the entire mission, the Shenzhou 12 astronauts performed well in the crew, and they are worthy of being the representatives of countless strivers and climbers in China's space industry in the new era.

Lin Xiqiang said that the recovery work after the astronauts returned to the ground in the space station stage was divided into three stages: isolation recovery, recuperation recovery and recovery observation. On September 17, the Shenzhou 12 astronauts returned to Beijing Space City on the same day of their return, and at present, the isolation and recovery stage has been completed as planned, and the three astronauts are in good physical and mental condition and will soon be transferred to the convalescence and recovery stage.
