Army General Zinichev, 55, is considered Putin's "successor."

It is reported that Zinichev is a former KGB and FSA official, and a former deputy director of the FSA's counterintelligence agency.

He served as governor of Kaliningrad Oblast and, like Putin, was born in Leningrad, now St. Petersburg.

From 2006 to 2015, Zinichev served as Putin's personal aide-de-camp and is credited with being one of Putin's security guards. Sources said Putin had "complete trust" in Zinichev, and some believe Putin is grooming him as a possible presidential successor.

He worked for three years in the position of Minister of Emergency Affairs and was also a member of the Russian Security Council.
