The age of artillery has a long history. Napoleon's artillery was invincible in Europe, and the importance of artillery was engraved in the DNA of the european countries, which experienced the test of World War I, and the importance of artillery was raised to a degree that could not be added, at that time the tank was not really formed, what was the army's victory guarantee? That, of course, was the artillery.

The Soviets were even more loyalists of "artillery" doctrine, but the larger the caliber of the artillery, the less maneuverable it became, and it was simply impractical to rely on cattle and horses to drag heavy artillery under the poor transportation conditions of the Eastern European plains. Therefore, the Soviet army chose the most handy tractor, that is, the agricultural tractor.

In the 1920s and 1930s, the Soviet artillery tractors reached their peak, and the tractors originally planned for agricultural use may never have dreamed of a day to pull their guns. At that time, the Soviet Union acquired a large number of tractor production technologies from Europe and the United States, and the representative of development was the tractor manufacturing plant in Stalingrad. The Soviets disliked wheeled tractors very much, but tracked tractors were too heavy. The Soviets had to imitate the American Reaper 15-30 and build their own Scotts 15/30 agricultural tractors.

The tractor became the main tractor of Soviet artillery on the eve of World War II, with a production of up to 3750 units. Later, our famous "Dongfang Hong" tractor was an upgraded and improved version of it. Obsessed with crawler tractors, the Soviet army continued to look for new tractor samples, and finally it was the old friend of the United States to help introduce the "Pioria" 18 track tractor, on the basis of which it improved to become the "Scotts" -3 crawler tractor.

The wide tracks were more suitable for road conditions in the Eastern European plains, its traction force could reach 2.85 tons, and almost all of the Soviet artillery was a target it could drag. The production of the "Scottsdale"-3 tracked tractor was very large, even reaching 19,000 units, and it became the "Volga Porter" who dragged Soviet artillery on the eve of World War II.
