More than 10 white rhinos have been born since 2009
It is understood that in order to protect rare rhinos, Chimelong Wildlife World began to raise white rhinos in 1997 (formerly Heung Kong Wildlife World), and has more than 20 years of rhino breeding experience so far, accumulating a lot of knowledge about rhino breeding, breeding, health care and treatment. Since Chimelong was born its first white rhino in 2009, more than 10 white rhinos have been born, and almost every year a white rhino is born in Chimelong. In addition, Chimelong Group Qingyuan has established the "Qingyuan Chimelong Animal and Plant Seed Source Base", focusing on the breeding, research and reproduction of rare animals, and has achieved good results.
The youngest white rhino is born on January 5, and February 4 is exactly the full moon. According to Yang Handong, an animal conservation expert with more than 20 years of experience in animal conservation, in order to ensure the birth of the white rhino baby, the veterinarian and conservation team regularly collect blood from the rhino mother every month during the pregnancy of the rhino to monitor its health status, and monitor the number of environmental bacteria every month; the feeding management team will prepare the delivery room half a month before production, thoroughly rinse and disinfect the delivery room, and lay soft mat grass to let the rhino live in the delivery room in advance to adapt to the environment. And arrange a week in advance for the management of 24-hour shifts to observe the changes in the cows through monitoring, until about 1 a.m. on January 3, 2021, the cows began to show signs of imminent labor, until January 5, 3:25 a.m. successfully delivered the calves, the whole production process went smoothly.
At present, the white rhino cubs have joined the group, enjoying the sun and grass on the grass with "Mom and Dad" and "brothers and sisters".
