Ma Xiaoguang, spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said in response to a reporter's question on 10 July that the DPP authorities begged for mercy, colluded with external forces, engaged in confrontation, resisted reunification, and plotted a dead end for "Taiwan independence." This is nothing more than seeking the selfish interests of one party, and it cannot coerce the will of the 23 million Taiwan people, still less can it stop the general trend of historical evolution.

A reporter asked: The leader of the DPP authorities delivered a so-called "speech" on October 10, and what comments did he have on the contents of cross-strait relations involved?

Ma Xiaoguang responded that this speech advocates "Taiwan independence," incites confrontation, severs history, distorts facts, and attempts to kidnap the will of the People in Taiwan under the guise of so-called "consensus and unity," collude with external forces, and provoke for its "independence."

Ma Xiaoguang pointed out that Taiwan is a part of China. Since 1949, although the two sides of the Taiwan Strait have not yet been fully reunified, the fact that the mainland and Taiwan belong to the same China has never changed or cannot be changed, and China's sovereignty and territory have never been divided and will never be allowed to be divided. The DPP authorities collude with external forces, rely on foreigners to gain self-respect, frantically plot "independence" provocations, and constantly create incidents; their so-called "maintaining the status quo" is nothing more than an attempt to conceal the sky and cross the sea and deceive the people of the world. At present, the DPP authorities' provocation of seeking "independence" is the root cause of tension and turmoil in cross-strait relations and the greatest threat to peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait region. Our crackdown on curbing "Taiwan independence" is a perverse act against the DPP authorities and the "Taiwan independence" forces, and is by no means aimed at the broad masses of Taiwan compatriots. The DPP authorities have sown discord, confused the public opinion, and deceived the people on the island and the international community.

He stressed: Our advocacy of peaceful reunification and the realization of the reunification of the motherland by peaceful means are in the best interests of the Chinese nation as a whole, including Taiwan. We are willing to resolve cross-strait differences on the basis of the one-China principle, promote the peaceful development of cross-strait relations, and advance the process of the peaceful reunification of the motherland. Adhering to the "1992 Consensus" and opposing "Taiwan independence" is the common political foundation for cross-strait relations. The DPP authorities have denied the "1992 Consensus," undermined the basis for dialogue, and pursued "Taiwan independence" splittism, thus closing the door to cross-strait dialogue. Isn't that changing the status quo! If this is also called "goodwill", then what else is called "malice"? If this is not "adventurous", what is "adventurous"?

Ma Xiaoguang said: Since the DPP authorities came to power, they have been incompetent in their administration and the people's livelihood is complaining, but they have been preoccupied with creating ethnic contradictions, dividing Taiwan society, vigorously engaging in "green terror," and frantically suppressing dissidents. Promoting "de-Sinicization" and "gradual Taiwan independence" and forcibly severing the flesh-and-blood ties between the Taiwan people and the Chinese culture and the Chinese nation have greatly harmed the fundamental interests of the vast number of Taiwan compatriots. If we package such "Taiwan independence" populism as the so-called "democracy and freedom" and boast that "Taiwan is getting better and better," we will also underestimate the INTELLIGENCE of the Taiwan people.

He said: Realizing the complete reunification of the motherland is the common aspiration of the sons and daughters of the Chinese nation at home and abroad and the common will of the Chinese nation. Taiwan is the treasure island of the motherland and the taiwan of all Chinese people, including 23 million Taiwan compatriots, and the future of Taiwan is jointly decided by all the Chinese people. The DPP authorities' begging for mercy and colluding with external forces to engage in confrontation, refuse reunification, seek "Taiwan independence," and take a desperate road are nothing more than seeking the selfish interests of one party, and they cannot encircle the will of the 23 million Taiwan people, still less can they stop the general trend of historical evolution.
