On August 5, combined with the current drought situation, the drought resistance work conference of the Zhangling Reservoir Irrigation District in Duchang County was held, and the current drought resistance work in the irrigation area was fully deployed. Duan Yuqi, vice chairman of the CPPCC county committee, attended the meeting, and the township mayors, leaders in charge, and water conservancy personnel of the three townships of Cailing, Chunqiao, and Xubu attended the meeting.
Duan Yuqi stressed: All localities should earnestly make preparations for fighting a major drought and a prolonged drought, further implement anti-drought measures, give positive publicity, correctly guide them, and strengthen scientific water use and disciplinary guarantees. At the same time, all townships and towns should cooperate with each other, unify their command, obey the arrangements, persist in managing water with a hoe, and do a good job in fighting drought in the Zhangling Reservoir this year with a solid work style to ensure the safety and security of water for grain production.
Zhangling Reservoir is located in the territory of Cailing Town, with a total reservoir capacity of 13.02 million cubic meters, which belongs to the second largest medium-sized reservoir in Duchang County, with a current water storage capacity of 6.61 million cubic meters, benefiting from the three townships of Cailing Town, Chunqiao Township and Xubu Town, with an effective irrigation area of 24,000 mu, and its main functions are farmland irrigation and water supply in market towns. With the continuous strengthening of grain production, the water demand in the upstream and downstream has expanded, and most of them are large grain growers.
According to the relevant person in charge of the Duchang County River, Lake and Water Conservancy Project Management Center, the water-saving irrigation project of the West Trunk Channel of Zhangling Reservoir has been completed, which has effectively improved the utilization rate of water and shortened the time of waterway transportation. In particular, Chunqiao Township and Xubu Town, benefiting from an area of nearly 6,000 mu, have not released water for nearly 20 years, the terminal channel has fallen into disrepair, through the mechanized operation in the past half a month, the channel maintenance has entered the tail sweeping stage, and the preliminary preparations for drought resistance have been fully prepared.
