In the current off-campus training market, there are problems such as test-taking, exceeding standards, and advanced training to varying degrees. The teaching method of "only fraction theory", the teachers of famous schools packaged out... All kinds of routines make the training content deviate from the goal of education. Training institutions should return to the professionalism of education and shift their attention from the "momentary" focus on scores to the healthy growth of students.
"Find a first-line famous teacher, learn to solve the big trick", "Harvard Peking University Tsinghua famous school background teachers, teaching quality is guaranteed" "exclusive big move, second kill key question type"... In the advertising slogan of many off-campus training institutions, high-quality teachers and quality teaching are the "magic weapons" to attract parents and students. However, many scholars and parents said that some off-campus training institutions have led education to commercialization, with teaching routines, learning questions, and evaluations retaking exams.
It is not advisable to exceed the standard
"I went to listen to a few English language lessons and found that some off-campus training institutions emphasize test-taking and problem-solving skills. I worry that children can only learn to set formulas and will not learn to think independently. Recently, Ms. Jiang from Qingdao City, Shandong Province, inspected several off-campus training institutions, but the results were a little disappointed, "Only mastering the so-called problem-solving ideas or routines, is it really helpful for children to master knowledge and improve their abilities?" ”
The Opinions of the General Office of the State Council on Regulating the Development of Off-campus Training Institutions clearly prohibits test-taking, exceeding standards, advanced training and other behaviors, but looking at the current education and training market, these problems still exist to varying degrees. Some training institutions even prepare two sets of lecture notes and lesson plans, one set for the record, one set of lessons, one set of inspections, one set of substantive teaching, and the problems of advanced and over-standard training have not been fundamentally solved.
Some front-line teachers reported that some tutoring institutions only used 20 or 30 days of vacation to teach three or four subjects for one semester. "Some students take 'preparatory classes' outside the school during the winter and summer vacations, and learn the courses of the next semester in advance. However, some students learn nothing more than 'sandwich food' and do not really understand the knowledge, but instead wear off interest. Sun Dongliang, a teacher in the Guangming Department of Shenzhen Experimental School, said.
Zhang Yu, associate professor of the Institute of Education of Tsinghua University, found that the training content of some off-campus tutoring classes is much ahead of the primary school textbooks, which violates the objective laws of cognitive development, harms students' creativity and inquiry ability, has no positive effect on cultivating students' thinking ability, and even affects students' self-confidence and learning autonomy.
There are also some training institutions that claim to have a "professional teaching and research system" and "good results come from good methods", but observing the training outlines of many institutions, it is found that the so-called professional teaching methods are mostly "accurate grasp of the test point question type" and "10 seconds to solve the problem, seconds to answer", and the test direction is very clear. Some institutions emphasize artificial intelligence to help teaching and promote advanced technical means, but the core of the product is still problem solving and score, rather than ability and literacy.
For example, mathematics should exercise thinking, but some institutions summarize junior high school mathematics into 985 knowledge points and 196 "tips"; texts should express real emotions, and some institutions divide compositions into 16 categories, each of which has a template; ideological and political science courses should guide students to establish correct values, and some institutions summarize high school politics into 430 compulsory knowledge points and more than 150 "big moves"...
In the interview, many experts said that the training content of some off-campus training institutions deviated from the goal of education and dissipated the value of education. In the context of emphasizing the cultivation of core literacy and the development of quality education, training institutions are "self-contained" outside the school education system, resulting in the occurrence of burden reduction in schools and increased burdens outside schools, which increases the burden on students.
Packaging "famous teachers" is worrying
Teachers are the backbone of education, and the effectiveness of teaching depends on the strength of teachers and teaching philosophy. Behind the chaos of off-campus training, an important reason is the unprofessional practitioners and uneven training personnel.
"Choose a good teacher in ten thousand", "Famous teachers in the first line of Qingbei", "More than 90% of the teachers graduated from key universities and normal colleges"... Many training institutions emphasize the background of teachers in advertisements, and the definition of good teachers is mostly graduated from famous schools and "well versed in the propositional laws and directions of various types of examinations".
However, many students reported that the teachers of some training institutions were not as high quality as advertised. Wang, a senior high school student living in Jilin City, Jilin Province, who studied physics and mathematics at an online training institution, said that in order to renew his course, the institution always claimed to have good teachers, but in fact the class changed teachers for various reasons.
"What the institution likes to publicize the most is the teacher's bright resume, such as graduation school and college entrance examination results." Mr. Dong, who graduated from a well-known university in Haidian District, Beijing, worked part-time at a training institution during his graduate school, and he found that although advertising was crazy, in fact, some training institutions had uneven teachers, "Some teachers who attend classes all year round do not have teacher qualification certificates, and some teachers have a good educational background, but learning well does not mean teaching well." Many institutional teachers are not teachers, nor do they have teaching experience, so they are packaged as famous teachers. ”
Lack of qualifications directly affects the quality of teaching. Mr. Dong revealed that the depth of teaching and research in many training institutions is not enough, and many teachers do not study teaching when preparing lessons, but do problems. "Instead of paying attention to a deep understanding of knowledge, we study various tricks, big moves, and second-kill techniques." Zhu Xiaojin, vice president of Nanjing Normal University, also found that although many teachers hired by off-campus training institutions hold teacher qualification certificates, their teaching level is uneven, and some "net red" training teachers violate the law of learning, promote seedlings, and the quality of teaching is worrying.
It is understood that the assessment of teachers by off-campus training institutions is mostly "continuation rate". Under the baton of the institution's market-oriented and close focus on the "continuation rate", many teachers are not concerned with education and teaching, but with marketing skills; not the long-term growth of students, but the short-term effect of raising points. The teacher's reinforcement of the score in the teaching process is to cater to the attention of some parents to the score, so as to attract parents to renew the course and continue to consume.
Overcome short-sightedness and go back to the right path
High-quality education requires high-quality teachers and scientific and effective teaching methods. Some off-campus training institutions focus on "high-quality teachers", the main promotion of the so-called "training thinking" teaching mode, under the advertising of "looking beautiful", its training is actually contrary to the law of education and the law of talent growth of test-oriented and "only score theory".
From a deep level of exploration, the reason is that the commercial attributes of some off-campus training institutions overshadow the educational attributes, and education and teaching are regarded as commodities and marketing. Some institutions seem to grasp teaching and research, but in fact, they are "doing problems", behind which is the value orientation of taking shortcuts and short and fast; it seems to recruit talents, but in fact, it is just to use the label of famous schools to attract customers and cater to parents' pursuit of further education and scores.
"At present, in the off-campus training market, there is a trend of replacing educational rationality with economic rationality." Zhang Wei, a professor at the Institute of Curriculum and Teaching of East China Normal University, believes that off-campus training should overcome short-sightedness and utilitarian tendencies, and return to the professionalism of education and the basic values of education.
China's Private Education Promotion Law stipulates that private education is a public welfare undertaking and is an integral part of socialist education. The education provided by off-campus training institutions should also implement the state's education policy, ensure the quality of education, and cultivate socialist builders and successors with all-round development of morality, intellectuality, physical fitness, beauty, and labor. This standard should be followed in terms of training objectives, training content, and curriculum design.
The 14th Five-Year Plan and the Outline of Long-term Goals for 2035 propose to standardize off-campus training. The realization of this goal requires training institutions to do education with care, consciously improve the team of training personnel and training courses, not only pay attention to the "momentary gain" of scores, return to the public welfare attributes of education, and dilute the commercial color. At the same time, it is necessary for the regulatory authorities to do a good job in regulating and supervising the qualifications and training content of the trainers, and also needs the joint efforts of all aspects of society and various departments to shift the attention to the score to the attention to the growth of students, so that education can truly cast the soul and enlighten the mind.
