Recently, a well-known international clothing FMCG brand HM announced the ban on Xinjiang cotton and the Xinjiang cotton incident has intensified, including Nike, Adi, Uniqlo, New Balance and many first-line brands have also participated in the ranks of "boycotting" Xinjiang cotton.
This surprised me, but what was even more surprising was that the reason for their boycott of Xinjiang cotton was that the cotton picking process in Xinjiang was not humane enough, and that the workers who picked cotton were forced labor, just like the black African slaves who had been squeezed into the cotton garden of the United States before.
At the same time as the cotton incident in Xinjiang continued to ferment, coincidentally I was reading "Uncle Tom's Cabin", and when I read about some of the cotton plantations, I fully understood this misunderstanding.
In the mid-17th century, slavery was permanent throughout the Americas, and they stipulated that blacks who arrived in the Americas would be enslaved for generations, including their children. Black slaves on the cotton plantations of the Southern United States were overworked at gun-to-men. I think that's probably what pushing oneself and others is like this.

Back to Uncle Tom's Cabin
Before reading this book, I always thought that this was a romantic children's literature, and I always felt that the "cottage" should be warm and chic, but it was not the case, please forgive me for my shallow knowledge and ignorance.
The author of Uncle Tom's Cabin is the American writer Mrs. Stowe, born on June 14, 1811 in Litchfield, Connecticut, to a prominent clergyman family, who died in 1896.
Influenced by theology since childhood, her life has basically been spent in a religious atmosphere, and even the inspiration for the book "Uncle Tom's Cabin" was suddenly in her mind when she was worshipping at Bruns Church, so the content of this book also has a very strong religious color, but "Uncle Tom's Cabin" is a great book, which is beyond doubt.
When lincoln, the sixteenth president of the United States, met with Mrs. Stowe, he jokingly called her "the little woman who wrote a book and caused a big war", and the "a war" mentioned here is the American Civil War, and this joke fully reflects the great influence of the novel "Uncle Tom's Cabin".
There are two main lines in the book, one main line is the black slave Uncle Tom, and the other main line is the black child Harry's mother and daughter Black Slave Eliza.
Uncle Tom's cabin
Uncle Tom and Eliza were originally slaves to a farmer's family in Kentucky.
The farmer and his wife were friendly to the slaves, especially his wife, who raised Eliza almost as if she were his own daughter, and uncle Tom as his most heartfelt servant and friend.
But the farmer, frustrated by his debts, decided to sell several of his efforts to slave traders to raise money to pay off the debt.
The slave traders have a crush on the honest and capable Tom and the clever and cute little Harry, and they make completely different choices in the face of the fate of being sold.
Eliza bravely escaped with Little Harry, and was soon reunited with her husband, who fled first, and the family finally escaped to Canada and gained their freedom after much hardship.
At the end of the story, by chance, Eliza's mother and husband's sister were found, and the family was finally reunited, and the family eventually moved to Liberia in Africa.
Uncle Tom was taken away by the slave traders, but fortunately on the ship that transported them to the south, Uncle Tom accidentally rescued Eva, a young white girl who accidentally fell into the water.
Eva begged her father to buy Tom, and Tom followed the father and daughter to their home in New Ireland, where Tom and Eva lived together for the next two years, but two years later Eva fell seriously ill and died.
Uncle Tom and the beautiful Miss Eva
Before Eva died, she gave gifts to her family, including the slaves, and made a meaningful speech.
So his father decided to give Uncle Tom freedom, but unfortunately, in this stall, Eva's father died, but his wife refused to fulfill her husband's promise.
Uncle Tom's yearning for a better and free life was thus in vain, and Uncle Tom was once again sold at auction like an animal.
The man who chose him this time was a vicious, brutal farmer.
The farmer refused when he wanted Tom to be a overseer to abuse the other slaves, and when the two female slaves escaped, the farmer asked him to confess their whereabouts, and when the farmer wanted Tom to give up his faith, he refused
Tom's repeated refusals and disobedience eventually annoyed the farmer, who instructed two overseers to brutally beat Uncle Tom to death, but the two overseers were influenced by Tom's character and converted to Christ.
The whole work is based on the simple human rights idea of equality, showing the author's deep sense of justice and deep sympathy for the black slaves living in the depths of the sea, as well as the deep hatred of the slavery system.
Uncle Tom's kindness and dedication to faith touched me deeply, and what touched me the most was the brilliance of humanity shining by the good character of the characters in the book, no matter in what era, as long as you have a good heart, you will not do things that hurt me and harm society, then our lives will become better and better.
Just as the skin color of those black slaves was innate, some misfortunes were also innate, but the firm faith and immortal spirit guided them all the way forward until they were immortal.
Religious people on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau measured the land with their bodies
1. The power of faith can overcome all.
Faith not only refers to religious belief, but also a powerful spiritual force that guides us to continue to move forward towards our own goals without fear of hardships and dangers, without fear of life and death.
In the Tibetan mass settlements on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, we can always see some devout religious masses, braving the severe cold and heat, prostrating their heads step by step along the highway, measuring the long pilgrimage road to the holy land of Lhasa with their bodies, believing that this will eliminate the sins of past lives, which is their religious belief.
Looking back at modern China, where mountains and rivers are shattered and lives are ruined, the countless revolutionary martyrs who sacrificed their lives to save the Chinese people who have suffered from war and disaster are the revolutionary beliefs that have penetrated into the marrow of communism.
Of course, it needs to be understood that any belief that is widely spread and promoted by mankind and is widely recognized should never encourage people to cruelly persecute and exploit others for the benefit of themselves or their own organizations, but should educate and educate people to be kind, help each other, love others, and pay attention to promoting a kind of great love and goodwill.
2. Kind people are the cutest people.
Although slave owners and slaves are two opposing groups in the book, there are also good people among slave owners.
There is Young Master George, who regards Uncle Tom as a mentor, Mrs. Shelby, who treats Eliza as a daughter, and Mr. St. Clay, who wants to give Tom freedom.
But the most popular of them is the beautiful little Eva, and it is recorded that in 1852 alone, 300 baby girls in Boston were named Eva.
Hollywood superstar Johnson
3. The only one who can beat you is yourself.
Just in the past, on March 24, a 34-year-old male steelmaker Xiao Wang in Baotou, Inner Mongolia, lost 60,000 yuan due to the purchase of futures and stocks, perhaps because of the huge amount of losses and certain debts itself, the pressure was too great, and for a while, at more than 10 o'clock in the evening, when no one noticed, he threw his hard hat and gloves off the slag road, jumped into the slag tank, and immediately disappeared into nothing.
This news is not only creepy, but also makes people feel sad and lamentable.
If he does not choose to end his young life in such an extreme way, then his future will have endless possibilities.
Hollywood action star Dwayne Johnson has a strong ability to absorb money, and his income in 2016 was $64.5 million, equivalent to 436 million yuan. But he was also so poor that he only had 7 yuan left.
When Kathy in the book was abused and bullied by the overseer, if he did not choose to fight hard, how could he have a good life of family reunion later?
As the saying goes: nine times out of ten things are not satisfactory in life. Everyone will have more or less hardships, but as long as you have to stay through the teeth, there will be a day when you will see the moon, in the long road of life, after this small mountain bag, who knows what kind of beautiful scenery is waiting for us?
