In the urban and rural areas of Liaoyang, there has long been a humorous phrase known to women and children: "The fruit of lao Shitai - sweet crisp". This is a compliment and praise for the "Old Shitai" product. The other day I had the privilege of visiting the Liaoyang Laoshitai production base, and some of the crafts still retain the tradition of handmade.
Handmade pastries
According to the "Records of Liaoyang County", in February of the thirtieth year of Qing Guangxu (1904), a Hebei person surnamed Cao came to Liaoyang, rented the house of the Sun family, and opened a "Shitaide" fruit shop. Due to unfamiliar land and improper management, he has been losing money for several years, and later he paid all the bedding as rent to the Sun family and changed his name to "Shitai Fruit". Initially hired the original "ShiTaide" craftsmen, and later Sun Xihou officially took over the management. By the middle of the Manchu period, his grandson Sun Guozhen was in business until December 1955, when a public-private partnership was realized.
Before liberation, the larger manufacturers in the pastry industry in Liaoyang successively included Zhonghezhai, Zhentaixin, Shiyiquan, Baodingsheng, Songhexuan, Daoxiangcun, Yuanxingren, Qingdefu, Zhilifa, Sanhefu, Lao Shitai and so on. After liberation, some still continue to operate, although the flavor of each product is different, the color and shape are different, but can be in the masses of outstanding reputation, the deeper influence, should be the first to promote "Lao Shitai".
After liberation, "Lao Shitai" continued to produce. At the end of 1949, under the leadership of the Liaoyang Municipal People's Government, a new Federation of Industry and Commerce was established. After the election of the delegates attending the meeting, Sun Guozhen, manager of "Lao Shitai", was the chairman of the committee. In September 1951, the first Liaoyang Federation of Industry and Commerce was established, and he was elected as a standing committee member. He was also elected as the People's Representative of Liaodong Province, the People's Representative of Liaoyang City for many terms, and a member of the CppcC Municipal Committee. In 1957, he joined the China Democratic Construction Association. In December 1955, "Lao Shi Tai" realized the public-private partnership. Other manufacturers in the same industry have gone out of business after several ups and downs, repeated ups and downs. The confectionery industry has realized public-private partnership, and this is the only one, Sun Guozhen was appointed as the director of the public-private partnership "Lao Shitai" pastry factory. In 1963, the "Lao Shitai" pastry factory was merged into the Liaoyang Food Factory.

In 1982, with the attention and active support of the relevant departments of the city, the city was the first to restore the "Lao Shitai" pastry factory.
