Six Senses Announces 2020 Regeneration Practice Achievements Outstanding achievements in many ways from ecological protection to humanistic inheritance

2020 will undoubtedly be a very difficult year for the tourism industry. During this time, however, Six Senses has once again achieved the Sustainability Goals through the combined efforts of hotel staff and their families, local community partners and hotel guests.

Six Senses has always embraced the concept of sustainable development as the Guiding Philosophy of the Group as an important step in building mutually beneficial relationships with local ecosystems, communities and cultures. In the spirit of giving more than taking, Six Senses has gone beyond the environmental level and made contributions to the development of the community and the integration of cultures. As a circular enterprise, it has brought many positive effects to residents and the surrounding ecological environment.

The most inspiring contribution is the conservation of 10 endangered and critically endangered species. Six Senses is dedicated to saving marine life such as the manta ray, the black-tailed shark, the whale shark, the sharp-pointed ploughfish and the corrugated lip fish, as well as some land animals, such as the Fiji crowned iguana and the black-stemmed Duke langur, as well as birds such as the long-crested myna, contributing to nature's biodiversity.

And over the past year, from candles used in hotels to cleaning solutions, Six Senses has integrated sustainability into the hotel's day-to-day operations. Six Senses has built organic gardens, farms and mushroom huts, as well as launched "farm-to-table" programs such as homegrown drinking water, to protect the environment while providing healthy green food for guests. In addition, Six Senses also works with local suppliers to reduce pollution and emissions from plastic packaging and food logistics processes, and the Circular Economy Initiative together proposes six key words for six good people's sustainable development: reflection, responsibility, respect, elimination, recycling and recycling.

Aid actions

It is worth mentioning that during the outbreak of the epidemic, Liushan also actively participated in the local anti-epidemic work, donating as much as 2146 kilograms of food and materials, benefiting 3515 people, and hotel staff contributed as many as 1500 hours of volunteer service time (which is still increasing).

"2020 proves once again that while ensuring a high-quality customer experience, we can also be environmentally and socially responsible," said Jeff Smith, vice president of sustainability at Six Senses, "What is even more valuable this year is that even when the hotel is suspended in response to regulations, our employees and community partners are still enthusiastic and volunteer to spend time helping those in need and giving back to the community and nature." "

Positive impact starts with meaningful action

Each Six Senses Hotel has a "Earth Lab" dedicated to promoting interactive engagement and innovation in sustainability, conveying the concept of green living and sustainability to the public. The Earth Lab workshop encourages hotel guests and members of the community to become more exposed to nature, to learn more about nature, and to build closer and closer ties with it. In order to enhance the promotion effect of the event, Rokuyoshi launched the "Earth Lab" live broadcast on Instagram on April 1 and April 22, 2021, showing us Rokuyoshi's contribution and inspiring moments on the road to sustainable development. From support for local primary schools during the outbreak, to a series of fun videos on "How to Do It Yourself", there are many more amazing scenes: on day 9 of the live broadcast, the Six Senses Hotel in Wan Wan Bay, Vietnam shows how the critically endangered black bean langur monkeys in their area thrive under their protection; on the 15th day, the Six Senses Hotel in Condau, Vietnam, shares the incubation process of professional sea turtle guardians caring for endangered green sea turtles until they are finally released into the sea. All series can be broadcast through Six Senses' IGTV.

Positive impact brings honors

Six Senses received the Travel + Leisure Global Vision Award for its contributions to sustainable development and environmental protection.
