On the morning of October 22,
In the waters near Ximen Island in Yueqing Bay,
With nearly 60 million mud cockle seedlings thrown into the sea,
The repair of fishery resources in Yueqing City was officially launched.
At about 10 o'clock on the same day, the boat carrying the mud cockle seedlings left the West Gate Island pier and headed for the nearby tidal area. After the quality acceptance and quantity check of the species by fishery experts, the staff released bags of mud cockle seedlings with a diameter of about 0.5 cm into the sea.
"According to the requirements of the Implementation Plan for the Proliferation and Stocking of Aquatic Organisms in Zhejiang Province, the shell length of the mud cockle seed shell released this time is not less than 5 mm, and the fishing and selling standards can be reached in 2-3 years after the breeding and stocking." The staff of the Yueqing Municipal Agriculture and Rural Bureau told reporters that in order to improve the survival rate of mud cockle seedlings, the staff specially selected mud cockle seedlings that have been temporarily raised on the beach for 2-3 months and have a relatively stable physiological function, and specially selected no breeding beaches in the tidal area about 2 kilometers offshore when they were released to ensure the growth of mud cockles.
"Yueqing is known as the 'hometown of mud cockles', and the north of the Qingjiang River in Yueqing Bay is listed as a national aquatic germplasm resources reserve for mud cockles, and through the use of artificial breeding methods, on the one hand, it can restore the germplasm resources of local wild marine organisms, maintain ecological balance, improve the production capacity of fishery resources, and promote the sustainable development of fisheries; on the other hand, it can also play a role in publicizing the protection of marine resources and promoting the increase of fishermen's income." According to the relevant person in charge of the Municipal Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau, since 2020, Yueqing has stocked 19.669 million grass carp fry, 6.667583 million red-eyed trout, 2.3445 million black seabream fry and 23.13792 million Japanese shrimp fry. In addition to the release of mud cockle seedlings this year, the Municipal Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau will also release different seedlings according to the season and fishing period to further enrich the fishery resources of Yueqing Bay.
It is understood that after years of implementation, the fishery breeding and stocking project has achieved gratifying results, and the decline of fishery resources in the waters of Yueqing Bay has been curbed to a certain extent. At present, the natural resources of shellfish in the beach of Yueqing Bay have been restored to a certain extent, and the resources of large yellow croaker, black seabream, spotted bristle crab and three-wart pike crab in the coastal waters have increased, which has effectively promoted the restoration and revitalization of offshore fishery resources.
